I'm torn, because I love strategy games; out thinking my opponent, careful planning, then the perfect storm of moves that ends in victory.
At the same time, I'm terrible at Chess. Like...bad. I've lost in five moves, bad.
And actually, not that fond of it, despite my love of strategy and it arguably being the progenitor of all strategy games. I think if the pieces has special powers, I'd enjoy it more. XD
Also, I finished Dream Drop Distance. And you were right. It was crazy good.

Been getting back into chess lately. I used to be good, but now my friend can beat me hard and that means it's time to get better. As unreasonable as it might sound, I can't stand to know that I can be good at something and not be good at it even when I haven't worked at it. So I joined a chess club with some friends in order to get better.
Mirrors are a gateway to another dimension?

Chess is, in my opinion, too balanced. There's no room for improvisation except on the low skill and very high skill tiers. Once you take it seriously, it's all rote memorization of strategies and canned openings and...bleh. I want something where strategy isn't something you memorize, but improvise.
A good example is Fisher Random Chess, which scrambles the opening positions of the back row. That way, there are no canned openings for you.
Anyway, chess rant over.
Something classic for you.

I wouldn't call that unreasonable. I'm sort of that way too, to an extent; when I know that I can do better, I want to do so. And if I don't, I'm disappointed in myself. I'd actually call that a good thing, in most cases. And chess club surely is awesome, even though I have no great love of the game myself.
I 'spose it's possible. There's something odd about mirrors that I don't think anyone can explain. They're a bit spooky, but also enlightening.
BUT...what if, every time you touch a mirror, you change places with your alternate reality counterpart, thus explaining why sometimes stuff seem's out of place, or not where you left it? Or someone said, or didn't say, something you thought they did?
...I'ma admit, I just blew my mind and frightened myself a bit.

It's funny, but if you were to ask a 40K player the greatest flaw of the game, there's a fair chance they'd say it was lack of balance. That may be why I'm so terrible at Chess; I try to randomize and create my own strategy, and usually get "pwned" fairly easily.
Also, that was awesome. XD I love the classic rock sound.

Well, there's a balance (pun not intended) between being evenly balanced and not balanced enough. I can see how some might see 40k as unbalanced, but I would say perfect balance (making each faction a clone of each other) actually makes the game less fun. That said, the possible moves in 40k are way more (Might even say infinitely more) complex than Chess, which has a finite number of moves and positions. This number is large, but still.
I too love classic rock. How about this song?

I would lean toward calling "balance" in a game meaning that each faction stands a reasonable chance of beating each faction, leaving the game up to dice and tactics. And that can be done without cookie cuttering the various factions or teams.
Also, that was awesome. I love the smoothness of the guitars and the flow of the lyrics. You don't hear much now. I blame digitalizing of musical equipment, which might be ironic considering I just listened to it on Youtube, but you know what I mean.

That was straight up, LOTR/John WIlliams epic. O_o I want that playing in the background when I'm working my forge. XD I might have to make that happen.

My idea of balance is similar. If you can win with a variety of tactics (For example, no one faction contains more over-powered units at unregulated cost) then it's "balanced" by making it unbalanced. If that makes any sense.
This is a popular one that you may know, but it's so good:

In WoW, there's a city called Ironforge which is pretty much the Dwarven capital. The entire city is basically a forge. Anyway, this is the city theme and it's pretty epic, but not as epic as that last one in my opinion.
Fajitas or tacos?

I'm actually not a huge fan of the Who, but that wasn't bad. It's been ruined for me as being the theme to CSI: New York though, since I despise that show. XD

That's funny, actually, since I've always favored Dwarves in fantasy lore. XD Though I'd agree; not as epic.
Tacos for me. I've never been a huge fan of fajitas, for some reason.
But tacos? I could eat a taco. Or 15. Whichever you have handy.

Admittedly a problem with CSI: Miami too. I love The Who...but feel they've been almost corrupted by CSI.
Which would you rather play?
A tabletop game in person that lacks balance, or a well-balanced multiplayer PC game?

A dragon with the head of a chicken and the tail of a fish?

Depends, I 'spose. But I love tabletop games and rarely ever get to play them, so I choose tabletop sans balance. Because really, in the real gaming world, those complaining about lack of balance usually are the same people who blame cheap dice for bad rolling.

Sounds like you're dealing with a cockatrice. Or a bad artists attempt to express equality.
Or just an interesting idea, as a whole. Sounds like a fun critter, assuming it wasn't evil.
