A Song for a Son - Smashing Pumpkins
You know, every single time I begin to doubt Billy Corgan's genius, or resent him for his ego, his gall or his arrogance, he comes out with something like this, and it's simply brilliant. Every single time. Without fail. And after he fired the entire freaking band again, I didn't think he was going to come up with anything worth hearing (his solo album wasn't exactly good). But here comes A Song for a Son, the first single off of his new, massively ambitious album (it's a 44 song concept album, released as singles and EPs before finally being released in a boxed set), and it's easily the best thing that the man's written since Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. It's better than Zeitgeist and Adore and everything he's recorded since, coming close to capturing the brilliance of the band during their 90s heyday.
Find this song. Download it. It's free. It's legal. You owe it to yourself.

You were telling him about Buddha, you were telling him about Mohammed in the same breath. You never mentioned one time the Man who came and died a criminal’s death...

It could be about saving the children--a name like that out of context is something I wait for daily. XDTripExistence wrote:For the record, the song is about condemning sexualized violence in the media.

I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do - Robert A Heinlein

This song is ridiculously emotionally charged (especially right now).
