If you didn't hear it, Hansi Kürsch of Blind Guardian is one of the guest singers. And if you ever listened to After Forever, Floor Jansen also makes a guest appearance.

Musically, I'd call it stunning. The way it shifts from dark to light is something I haven't really ever heard before. At least not with that frequency. O_o Awesome.

Lyrically, it was almost too dramatic for me. And I'm not a fan of people will to kill off everything so they survive.

How does it end?

Agreed on the music. Arjen Lucassen is a fantastic songwriter.

The drama comes from the story of the album: An alien race, The Forever, are trying to survive their own extinction by seeding their DNA on a planet. This song is them debating over whether or not to wipe out the dinosaurs from the planet earth. They decide to do it. The dark subject matter is because Arjen Lucassen, the composer/multi-instrumentalist of Ayreon, was experiencing dark bouts with depression and grief.

The ending? Well, they find out that humans are on the same course they are: Towards extinction. This time, by nuclear warfare. There's also the fact that all Ayreon albums are connected, so the story concludes with noting that the circle is complete. What circle, allow me to explain...

Back in the first Ayreon album, The Final Experiment, it was revealed that there was an experiment called Time Telepathy, by which people could send images and messages to someone back in time. That album was about the images being sent a dark-ages minstrel named Ayreon to try and avert the end of humankind. Later, the album Universal Migrator Part 1: The Dream Sequencer continued the story: some humans escaped the destruction on earth, and fled to Mars. But with no way to replenish supplies, they soon died out. The last man alive used a tool called The Dream Sequencer, by which he can live the lives of people in the path. In the end, he died, but was declared the "new migrator", whatever that meant.

This album concludes with the Forever giving that survivor the Dream Sequencer as a form of relief for having subjected the species to what happened. Then, they accept their fate, and hope that the universal migrator might restore them.


Kinda dark stuff, and ridiculously complex for musical albums. XD

Wensleydale?

Sadly, I don't think I've ever had it.

It's not too bad, actually. I wouldn't say that it's the best cheese I've ever had, but it's pretty tasty. Creamy texture, with a bold - but not sharp - flavor. I'd recommend it to any cheese connoisseur, if for anything else, the right to claim that you've tried one of Wallace's favorite cheeses.

I know that some have said that Wensleydale has a slight honey taste to it, but I don't remember that from the ones we got last Christmas (my wife picked up an assortment of imported cheeses, just to taste). Maybe it was lost while it was being shipped stateside.

Do you have a favorite cheese? And what do you think of Wallace and Gromit?

Now I have to go find some Wensleydale. I love Wallace and Gromit. And it sounds good. Is there anyone that doesn't like Wallace and Gromit?

Favorite cheese is trickier, as I like different cheeses for different things. My favorite melting cheese is Mozz, because if I said anything else I would be denying my love of pizza. But not fresh, or buffalo milk mozz, as the texture is a bit too plastic-y for me. Second is a nice Monterey Jack.

My favorite snacking cheese is a strong English (or Irish) cheddar. I love muenster too, but there's something about the bite of an aged cheddar. If it doesn't make someone go "this doesn't taste like cheddar" it isn't strong enough.

My favorite sammich cheese is muenster. Because it sort of has a stank you can taste that, when paired with cold cuts, is glorious.

I've had goat and sheep cheese... but I've never had buffalo. What's that like?

It's been awhile since I've had it, but it really just tasted like Mozzarella to me; Mozzarella that you paid two--three times the price for. XD

Maybe a bit stronger than normal. Maybe. I remember thinking it wasn't worth it.

Interesting! Still, as a connoisseur, you'd be obligated to try it at least once, if not for anything else, the experience. And the bragging rights, of course.
