Well...I think there's a certain region in men that can cause more pain (And childbirth for women), but for humans on average, I'd probably agree.

I dunno man...You can walk that off after a bit. Teeth can cause mind breaking pain that lasts for days, months, years. Decades, even.
So much to do, plenty of time: actually more maddening than a lack of time?

Maybe, but what's more maddening than "lots to do with not enough time" is "nothing to do, and all the time in the world to do it."
Because while I like vegging out, I like being productive (in some form) more. I like knowing that I did /something/. Even if it's just plinking away at this terrible novel idea that will probably never get published. XD

I'm that way sometimes. Other times, I'm entirely content with doing nothing. Most times, I'm entirely content with doing nothing, to be completely honest. XD
But you know, as a bit of backward encouragement, I've seen some pretty terrible books get published; not only published, but shipped out to the masses. Heck, walk into a Wal-Mart book section and count how many terrible romances are on the shelves. I have no doubt you can fly miles over the bar in its current setting.
And you can always self publish, which is a very viable option in the world of modern books. Either way, I'd not call writing a book a waste of time. If nothing else, you'll have developed and increased your writing skills for other projects or your next book. ^_^
Sometimes, you just want to slap the internet?

I suppose, I just remain unsure if my writing is actually entertaining. I don't want to be a Nobel Laureate in Literature, I would be perfectly happy if I could get books published with enough frequency and distribution to quit my job and write them full-time. Of course, that's a terribly unrealistic expectation in this day and age, especially for someone who comes from a distinctly non-literary background (Compute Science, wot wot).
I suppose the first Eragon book got published, so maybe I can after all.
Yep...I want to slap the internet many times.
But the Bob Ross Twitch stream was not one of those times.

I liked Eragon at the time. Don't think I'd enjoy reading it now though. May give it a shot at some point though. But remember, not only did Eragon get published...they made a movie and several video games out of it.

Yeah. I hate odors that don't ever go away. My old car had a weird smell that threw people off when they rode with me...I stopped noticing after a while.

Noseblindness. It is, I think, an indication God loves us. Heaven knows how crazy we'd go if we had to smell ourselves all the time. O_o

Or get some caffeine. It's all in how you read the signals, and whether or not you've had some already.
I have to be up early in mornings for work, so I usually take your suggestion.

I guess it could mean your book is really boring too. But I was trying to work on mine the other day on 3.5 hours of sleep, and dozing off as I typed.
How's progress on your novel going?

Slow. There's a heist coming up in the book which will move things along, but heist preparation is hard to make interesting, so I'm plodding along, putting the heist itself off until I have a dedicated session to start and mostly finish it. I'll also have to scour this whole book with a fine-toothed comb when I'm "done" because I'll need to sort out the plot holes and clean up descriptions.
In short, even when I hit 50,000, I won't be close to "done" with the novel. T_T I mean, I'll keep at it as long as I can, but man. This is hard work.

I feel that way too. I'm aiming for 50K, because I really want to complete NaNoWriMo this year. But I'm aiming for a 75K miniumum when I complete my story. It depends though; the first two sections had taken up that pace of words, but I don't know if the last four or five will. I have a clear picture of where I want the story to go, but after I finish this section, I don't know how it's going to get there. XD

Oh goodness, yes. Right there with you. I don't know how I'm going to keep in step with the story direction I want to go. Heck, I was already a little unsure of my plan, and self-doubt doesn't help.Chozon1 wrote:I have a clear picture of where I want the story to go, but after I finish this section, I don't know how it's going to get there. I don't think it can be ignored in most cases. The last time I had food poisoning, my body sure as heck wouldn't let me forget it.The fury of the innards doth not bear ignoring?

Just keep writing, I think is the answer. I picture this as the desert of the authoring world; it'll end eventually, as long as you keep walking in one direction.

I'm hoping so. Right now I'm trying to keep things interesting and extrapolate at the same time. On the other hand, at least I'm over 26,000 words in!Chozon1 wrote:Just keep writing, I think is the answer. I tend to curse in foreign languages, or adapt them to be a little bit different. It makes me feel like I'm swearing, but unless you speak like I'm pretending to, you won't understand it.Inventing curse words?
