I'd rather wear a hot dog suit than a dress - unless there was a pack of ravenous wolves on my heels.

That's almost as disturbing as the hot dog suit idea.

I'd like to address the topic of grammar - specifically, the 8 parts of speech.
*Ahem*
Why the heck would I need to know - "Joe" is a noun - "jumping" is a verb - "I" is a pronoun - etc.
Or that a noun-verb that is used as a - noun is called a substantive or a gerund?
I can read and write perfectly well without it - and why in the world would I ever have to label a sentence according to what part of speech each word was?!
Completely and utterly USELESS
Or am I missing something?

I've never found any use for such stuff, and my mother currently wants me to study it more. She can't come up with a reason why, though.

Yeah, same with my mother.
She wants me to study more - and pretty much no reason why I would need to.
Typical mom.
Now - *sigh* back to diagramming these moronic sentences...
"Johnny was jumping over the juicy jelly bean..."

Unpleasant. *looks at health book* Why is my health book discussing attitude and my responsibilities as a citizen? Quite interesting.
Oh well. My real classes should be interesting once they start.
