He doesn't seem like a hypocrite. He seems like a person who is frustrated that there is this thing (in this case, a movie) that everyone is talking about but he can't go see it because of one reason or another. It's something we all experience.
To answer Hittokiri's question, it is a really bad movie that is an absolute blast to see in a theater full of laughing, screaming drunk people.

You don't make a movie about snakes on a plane because of necessity, so I don't know what you mean by "unneeded". Are there details superfluous to the message that there are snakes on the plane in question? Yes. But I stand by my conviction that the movie just plain isn't meant for anybody who has any more questions after hearing the title.
