And yet Led Zeppelin influenced metal... What are you talking about? XDDeepfreeze32 wrote:"Helter Skelter"---The Beatles.
Proto-metal my butt.
the only thing this sounds like is a form of lesser Led Zeppelin.

Did I ever call Zeppelin metal? I said they influenced metal, which is what proto-metal bands did. They weren't so much metal bands themselves but they had a lot of the basic characteristics of later metal bands of whom they influenced. Which is what "proto-metal" means. "Helter Skelter" was a prime example. It was the loudest and heaviest song released by a major band at the time. The vocals were on the near-edge of screaming and the heavy-distorted riffs drove the song.Deepfreeze32 wrote: I'm saying that this isn't the so-called proto-metal.
inspired proto-metal maybe, but to call it any form of metal is blasphemy.
As is calling Zeppelin metal.
"Have a Drink on me"---AC/DC.
Wow, I need Back in Black. XD

Uh no.Deepfreeze32 wrote: Near edge of screaming?
You're kidding right?
Heavy distorted riffs.....The Rolling Stones had more distorted riffs than that.
loudest song, that's an irrelevant point since volume is user controlled. I could have recorded a country song louder than that.
Heavy is relative.
I'm fairly certain some Rolling Stones stuff is heavier than that.
I won't dispute the influence they had on how bands are marketed, but telling me they were the most influential band of all time and influenced all forms of rock?
Who's pretentious now? That does nothing for Beatles fans except make me view them as complete prats, just like the Beatles themselves. I will admit, that's not a good thing to think, but you guys sure don't aid your case.
After our IRC convo, I'm not going to do the work for you.ohnolookout wrote:Uh no.
I'm still waiting for you to show me those riffs.
No it's not.. since such a loud level was very frowned upon back then. The volume required for those tones in Helter Skelter and other stuff like The Who was extremely loud and was never done before. It opened up doors to dozens of genres. I'd like you to show me some Stones songs (prior Helter Skelter) that are heavier.
