Yeah, but I need to conceal it. If you want big, get a rifle, handguns are for hiding.
Rookies?

Maybe. Just buy a sling and carry it high between your shoulders. That gives you a lot more room in which to conceal things, and in the event of needing to pull it in a 'situation', it looks like you're scratching your back rather than pulling a gun.
Really. Movies have shown everyone what pulling a gun looks like.
Rookies are fun. Unless they're the pain in the rumps flavor. That kind that follows along behind the vet, whining and complaining and directing.

Rookies are always a pain. Then at the end of the season, you look back with them at how far they've come, raise a toast, and watch as your job prospects next year disappear.
Sleep now in the fire?

Not sure what that's a quote from. But it makes sense.
I sleep in a hammock. With AC.

More important, would you agree that everything good ceases to be some in excess?

No. Not everything. Everything consumable, usable. But not everything.

I quote "I think the dude had too much time on his hands".
...
End quote. Because that wasn't obvious when I stopped talking.

It's kinda cool, though. Free as well.
Why is it anyone would turn down a chance for someone with a good grasp of English (read: me) to help them develop their own voice for writing papers, especially when it's the only thing they suck at?

Pride. There's also a complex interplay of uncomfortability and indebtedness, if that person happens to be friend or family.
I've turned down help from family before.

Yeah, it was my cousin. I was really just gonna give her a schedule and talk with her about it occasionally, but meh. Her loss.
Carving sigils in the crawlspace under my aunts house just to freak her out?
