6th Edition has shifted the entire game to lean more toward ranged combat. Black Templars are at their best in close combat, so some of their advantages and strengths have been nerfed, and Black Templars have a disadvantage when trying to play the shooty game.

They seem to have made a lot of adjustments that make 40K play much more like Fantasy. Some of the rules from Fantasy have been basically copy/pasted over to 40K. Is it a good thing? I believe so, and the psychic system is much improved.
