Drums are the heartbeat of music. Rhythm guitar is the blood, melody is the heart, and face melting solos are the adrenaline. Lyrics are the pancreas, because they keep things from getting too sweet.

At the moment I'm wondering where the hate for 'simple' 3 chord songs comes from. I mean yeah, it'd be one thing if all songs used the same three chords and canned melody...but I have no problem with simplicity.

People who deride songs for being simple... I don't know. it seems like a kind of elitist thing, and I've mainly heard it from people who play music but don't write it. Anyway, I don't really understand that way of thinking either.

That may be very true...I remember reading some guy mildly railing against Johnny Cash because most of his stuff only used three chords at that point.

Hey, R.L. Burnside even manages to stay on one chord throughout a song and still keep it interesting.
