(makes sense to make it cross class, too)

so what should cha and dex be to get the bonus? I was hoping to be a smooth talking rogue, chaotic good works

CCGR-You can make your character however you would like. Smooth talkin lawful good rogue is epic! I was just saying that if your stats were pregenerated you can move that 18 to wherever you like it. I usually put my main score into dex when roll a rogue. It's entirely up to you though so feel free to make it however you would like.

so if I swap the dex and cha and change to chaotic good, it should be good to go right?

Skills level with each level earned. So basically each level you have a max number of ranks you can put into a particular skill. You can take feats that allow an additional +3 for the skill (that's skill focus on the SRD). Human's get a free feat at level 1, something to consider.

If it's ok with you, we will consider Control Shape a cross class skill.

The beauty of the game is that you can gear a character to be what you would like it to be. If you would like your character to be lawful good and have an 18 charisma than that's totally cool!

When I gear a rogue, I go for dex because that affects your Hide, move silently, escape artist, open lock, and sleight of hand. The next highest I would use in wisdom because it helps with Spot, sense motive, and listen.

However, if you did go cha as your primary you could level disguise, gather information, diplomacy and bluff. Then go Dex and then Wis. This build would be great for a spy type like ArchAngel mentioned.

That's.... high power... Am I understanding right that we're having Ability Scores that can range from 15 - 30?

No, sorry. I meant 4d6 pick highest 3 (per stat). If you roll a 1 or a two, re roll the dice. You keep everything from 3-6. That way you're not stuck with an 8 or 9 as a score.

Do that 7 times, pick the 6 highest scores to use. It allows you to throw the low stat away.

EDIT: Typically, it's 3d6 per stat and you keep what you roll. This allows you to get higher rolls and ditch the lesser ones. You choose where your stats go.

I was wondering what the higher levels provide when it comes to rolling for Will Save and Control Shape. Like, if I had level 5 in Control Shape, is it DC 15 for Control and DC 10 for Will Save on voluntary? Or something.

Also, would we be following the Control Shape chart on SRD?

Code: Select all

Return to humanoid form (full moon1)	25
Return to humanoid form (not full moon) 20
Assume hybrid form 15
Voluntary change to animal form (full moon)	15
Voluntary change to animal form (not full moon)	20
Don't mean to be Munchkining your game already, just trying to get my head around things. :)

Sorry I'm late to the party, but is there perhaps one more spot open? I'm well versed in D&D and could play any class.

Good question. I think this is a good chart to go by. Though I think hybrid form only will be available. At least until higher levels. Animal form has tactical and stealth capabilities (if you just look like a wolf, you can get around everywhere without too much panic if you look like someone's pet). Assuming Hybrid Form will be a DC 25 if not a full moon. It's trying to force the beast out when it wants to sleep (opposite of trying to force the human out when the beast wants control). See modified table above. We can discuss later on if you can change into a regular wolf.

EDIT: Iron, aren't you ArchAngel's son as well?
I don't see it as munchkining as long as you keep it in balance during game play and the fun of others is not lost.

Sweet, check out the rest of the thread. We're using the D20 SRD only for sources. No psionics. Starting level is 1. For stats, Roll 4d6, reroll 1s and 2s pick highest 3 for each stat. Roll 7 stats pick best 6 and place them as you see fit.

So far, we have:
CCGR-Rogue
ArcticFox-Paladin
ArchAngel-Fighter or possibly ranger
Deep Freeze-Wizard

NOTE TO ALL: Please choose a color. When your character speaks in game, please highlight the quote in that color.

For instance: Gorehcht (my favorite dwarf name) walks to the inn keeper. The inn keeper welcomes him with a kind smile.

"what can I get you." Says the Inn Keeper.

"I'll have a pint of your finest." Says Gorehcht as he slaps a solid silver coin down on the bar.

The innkeeper takes his money and draws the delicious beverage from the tap.

Cool. Guess I'll play the cleric then. I'll try to have a sheet ready sometime tomorrow. I'm Arctic's oldest, to answer your question. And I claim RED for my character.

Is there anything campaign backstory or game world setting information we should know about for character creation?

I'm getting the back story set up now. I think something light to get those not accustomed to pbp gaming used to it. Then we'll go on to deeper story lines and what not. I'm still relatively new but I can handle the task for sure.

We're using myth weavers for the character sheets.

Do you guys have a preference for story or setting?

Sounds good, Fathom. I'll stick with a fighter and I'll get my chart up in a little bit.

I'll claim blue.
