Kingdom Hearts. The ultimate. I rest my case. Case dismissed.

I thought the genre Action RPG fit it well enough... I mean that what they label it.
Anyways,
I tried the demo for the up coming Kingdom Hearts game for 3DS,
the battle system is a lot like Birth By Sleep... I like.

DARN IT ALL!!!!! I'M THINKING ABOUT GETTING A 3DS, BUT AT THE SAME TIME ARE OTHER GAMES COMING OUT!!!! KINGDOM HEARTS 3DS LOOKS OFFICIAL BUT I'M NOT SURE BECAUSE I ALSO THOUGHT ABOUT THE VITA!!!!!! On top of that, there are games I'm looking forward to like Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing: Transformed and Jet Set Radio. Not to mention Sonic Adventure 2 for PSN XBLN. What do I do? Someone tell me. I know it is a matter of priority. But someone tell me anyway.

On the contrary, I think the game to be quite awesome. That's why I want to get it. Maybe I should just stick to what I have for now.......

No, it's not.Krytae wrote:It's not labeled as one, but it's very close to being one.
It has platforming segments, but it's an action-RPG, through and through.

Uhhh... how does any of what's been said make that game the ultimate?DeadManReedeemed wrote:Kingdom Hearts. The ultimate. I rest my case. Case dismissed.
I actually found it ridiculously clunky. Not a fan of those games.

So, you've got this third-person action game, right?JOJ650s wrote:How so?Drewsov wrote: I actually found it ridiculously clunky. Not a fan of those games.
It doesn't have a dynamic target lock feature like the Zelda series, but still manages to have a terrible camera, because besides the fact that you've got a target lock, you've got a camera that can still be moved, which doesn't help matters.
Then you've got the battle system, which is like some weird amalgamation of the Final Fantasy-esque, turn-based style, combined with, again, Zelda, which doesn't work.
So the end result is this multitasking mishmash that isn't particularly fun to play and turns into a controller-breaking "good time" when the game gets really difficult.

I just beat Kingdom Hearts 2,
your reasons feel so invalid right now.
I will agree about the camera view in the first Kingdom Hearts, but just the first one..
I think the battle system in the Kingdom Hearts games are amazing.
Also I have beaten Kingdom Hearts 1, 2, and BBS on the hardest difficulty.
Not to be rude,
but I think someone just been losing to the same boss for to long.

No.
I had Kingdom Hearts 2 sitting there for like four years, and I just didn't want to play it. I didn't find it fun. Had nothing to do with bosses.

I agree that Kingdom Hearts has a pretty uncontrollable camera. I don't understand the point that it has an amalgamation of turn-based and Zelda-type combat because I don't remember anything like turn based combat in Kingdom Hearts. I always found the combat system very usable. The first game at least got insanely difficult at times and really forced level grinding. I found Kingdom Hearts II boringly easy.

What I mean by the "turn-based and Zelda" comparison is that the game tried to do hack-and-slash and tried to do menu-based combat at the same time.
It failed.
Don't get me wrong, KH1 had some very difficult spikes, and KH2 was, like you said, boringly easy (though it too had some difficult moments and some amazing set pieces), but neither game was helped by the combat system.

Okay, now I remember what you're talking about. I seem to remember there being some type of shortcut system that let you select commonly-used abilities quickly, but it's been years since I've played it. I don't remember having too much frustration with the menus. Overall I really enjoyed the game.Drewsov wrote:What I mean by the "turn-based and Zelda" comparison is that the game tried to do hack-and-slash and tried to do menu-based combat at the same time.

So you had trouble with the battle menu?Drewsov wrote:What I mean by the "turn-based and Zelda" comparison is that the game tried to do hack-and-slash and tried to do menu-based combat at the same time.
I am not sure how unless you tried to rapidly use magic from the battle menu and not the sortcut menu.
Hmm... I am guessing the combat system in Birth by Sleep would be more your style.
