Freaking finally. It... wasn't what I expected. That's not to say it wasn't awesome, because it most certainly was. The acting, surprisingly, was excellent (for the most part), and Guillermo del Toro nailed the setting and characters. It was an entirely unique and original movie, despite lacking a very fresh story (on the fantasy side of things, at least; the "reality story" was something I've never seen mixed with fantasy before, so I really liked that bit).

Biggest problem I had with the movie... Just about every character lacked common sense. Simple little things that would've made everything craptons easier for everybody. o_o "Oh, my hand is right on the chalk, and I could easily not leave it on the table so that the bad guy doesn't see it and suspect my presence, but I'm not going to, just because that's how I roll." Bah.

All in all... I did love it. Just could've made the characters a little bit smarter. o_o

But Riley, it's a fairy tale. And fairy tales... they have characters that don't always think things through. You know? ;)

I last saw Mystic River and Unleashed. Both great.

Doesn't matter. It's still frustrating. XD

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Hilarious and sweet. And Mila Kunis is unbelievably cute.

Adventureland

It is not, as the ads would have you believe, a raunchy comedy in the vein of Superbad. It's actually a poignant, realistic coming-of-age teen romantic comedy. It's probably one of the best of its kind as well. Since it wasn't what I expected, I was a little disappointed, but it works very well as the type of movie it is. It could potentially be a good date movie, as I can see both guys and girls finding something to like.

Monsters Vs. Aliens

Funnier than I expected.

It was a movie basically made up of one-liners.

We Were Soldiers

Very emotional and visceral war film, although the actresses were nothing short of horrendous. I still enjoyed it a lot, however.

B+

Saving Private Ryan

Obviously the superior of the two, SPR is just a little better written, acted, and directed.

But not that one, ccgr.

You know why?

Because that movie is amazing. The whole thing is (in my opinion) a reflection on two different types of people, and more specifically, two different kinds of Christians - those following God by the heart, and those following by the law. In a way, Sister Aloysius represents the Pharisees and the Sadducees (sp?), while Father Flynn represents those early disciples of Christ, such as Paul. And what happens when Sister Aloysius pursues her dogmatic view of the law to the extent she does? The ending is pretty clear with how satisfied she is with what she's done and how confident she is with her worldview.

I think I'm gonna buy that movie tomorrow.

And I will be quick to follow in Zak's footsteps. I love that movie. o_o

Brick

Not... really... one of those movies I can properly explain. I loved it, though. Then again, I love detective stories. Like. A lot. XD

And... the main character... was pretty much just awesome.
