((@CCGR-If you want to try to steal the marbles from the little kids, you will have to roll a sleight of hand check against the spot check of the kids and/or city guards. If you succeed, you will be able to take one of the marbles.

Regarding the glowing eyes-you can roll a knowledge arcane or knowledge nature to determine their source. Once I get the roll from CCGR and any final inquiries for the city, and you guys are all set, I will set up the next post for your travels.))

Startled, Guy gives Kratimos an I'm going to get you for this look and addresses Livia...

"We... were all summoned to Father Michael... perhaps you've heard of him... He is a Druid, and a powerful one. He are being sent to confront a... scourge... who guards a relic we need to accomplish our wider goal of confronting an evil lich king..." At last he manages to look at her. "That's... the basic story, anyway."

Kratimos was not failed to be amused; it was great fun watching the paladin.
"The brand we have is the designation of our calling to this task," Kratimos picked up where Guy left off. He rolled the sleeve up from his right forearm to show his own mark. "Beyond that, on what it is, what it does, or the importance of it's location, I do not know."

"No... I haven't heard of Father Michael. I always considered druids to be kind of snooty. " Livia giggles and winks at Brokan. She hooks her arm around Guy's and lightly pats over where his brand is. She lowers her voice so passerby's cannot hear. "I have one of these... What is it? What does it mean? I woke up with it about a month ago. That is part of the reason I am no longer with the Elves." She pulls the collar of her armor loose to show the top of the mark just under her collar bone.

She listens to Kratimos and is quiet for a moment. All excitement drained from her voice when she responds. Her voice flat and her face pale. "What kind of designation? What am I marked for?" She pulls her armor tight again, letting her arm release Guy's.

((It doesn't really matter, but Father Michael is a cleric who is a good friend with the high druid))

Kratimos rolled his eyes; the young cleric was preoccupied with Guy and while this would normally be to his amusement to watch Guy, he did not appreciate being ignored. Not in the least.

"And Father Michael is a cleric..." Kratimos quietly grumbled to himself and he walked away from the two.

EDIT: ((Oh, I'm sure our heart-throb paladin just got nervous and misspoke :P))

Livia wrinkles her nose and sticks her tongue out at Kratimos' back as he stalks off.

"Fine. Don't answer my question." She mumbles to herself as she sits down on the ground, waiting for Crimsonblade to return.

((My bad... I thought he was a Druid himself))

"Er... right... a Cleric... of... someone..."

He crouches beside Livia, wishing Kratimos had continued. "I don't know exactly what the mark means... only that somehow it marks us out as those... " He struggles for the right word "... chosen? for this task. I do not know how or why."

He stands, wondering where CrimsonBlade got off to. Something about marbles... Embarrassed, he follows Kratimos, catching up with him. "I do not know that we should trust the... follower of Vecna" He shoots a venomous look at Minather. "Vecna is among the vilest, most evil of the Old Ones. How can we trust one who worships him?"

Guy speaks not from malice, but from confusion. Father Michael had clearly chosen this man, and yet... To fight by his side was anathema to everything he'd learned. His face is almost pleading as he asks Kratimos the question.

Kratimos heard the cleric's mumblings.
"Already did, sweetheart." He called out, but didn't stop his pace and kept walking.

After Guy caught up with him, Kratimos listened to his question.
"Vecna is, and I don't trust the wizard. Not yet." Kratimos answered thoughtfully, "And it is your choice to not trust him or not associate yourself with him.
But at least Vecna, in all his secrets, deceit, and wickedness, is honest about his honest about his secrets, deceit, and wickedness. Ironic, really. The wickedness of the pantheon spreads far beyond those who are just out-rightly evil. I trust no one who would impose their will on others, or would allow their will to be overridden by another. God or man alike, it matters not. I will judge a man by the strength of his character and resolve, and that alone.
"

Guy pauses to consider this, then shakes his head.

"Judging a man by his resolve and character is a wise move, of course... As far as we are qualified to judge..." The last part barely audible. "But unless this man was forced to follow Vecna, he already has one glaring example of poor character. I... I know it is wrong to be haughty... and I know I sound like it but..." He looks again toward Minather, then sighs again. "There will be peace between myself and this wizard, for my part... But at the fist sign of treachery." He swallows, his next words bitter in his mouth. "I will act."

Guy nods, grateful, and approaches Minather, making a show of keeping his hands away from his blade.

"There will be peace between us, for my part... But... why... Vecna?"

Knowledge (nature) for the glowing eyes question:

[dice]0[/dice]

Brokan followed the others. He had no interest in the theological debate. Brokan worshiped something higher than gods, and he had nothing to prove.

((Before the question was asked))

Minather, noting the interaction between Guy and Livia, smirks in amusement. He might once have been in Guy's shoes, but for the quest he was on...Forced to leave everything behind, he went single-mindedly into the future.

((Assuming you directed the question to me))

Why Vecna? Minather asks, surprised. It's a rather long story, with details which need not be revealed here or now. I shall tell you this, however. This quest we are on is auxiliary to the one I was on before. If I find you worthy of my trust, perhaps you shall learn more. But let me ask you this much: What do you know of Archmekal?

Minather simply waits for an answer.
