Slumdog Millionaire
Remarkable. A beautiful fantasy tale of redemption and true love. I'll quote my best friend (who cited it as her favorite romance, which I can safely agree upon), saying that the ending "made me all warm and gooshy inside". That's my estrogen acting up again...

Burn After Reading
Hilarious. Brad Pitt was golden. This movie was directly up my alley. Namely, people acting stupid and getting hurt.

Taken
Unfortunately the 'real life' scenes that bookend the film are much less realistic than the violent intensity and sordid (but not graphic) view of sex trafficking that takes most of the rest of the plot, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this film, especially seeing Liam Neeson show us that he can still kick butt.

Is it just me, or is there a lot of symbolism in these?

Sleepover - Steve Carell obviously steals the show. C-
Never Back Down - I was surprised to find that I liked this movie more than I thought I would, but without Djimon Hounsou, there wouldn't be much to this teen brawler. I'm being generous, but I still was entertained. B-
Bolt - Again, another unexpected surprise, this time with higher production values and a cutesy likability that's hard to miss. A-

Zack and Miri Make a Porno
Far from the best work Kevin Smith or Seth Rogen have done, it was a decent enough story about friendship and love. The sexual content was extremely explicit and the story felt very rushed and sloppy. It was still entertaining at parts, however.
B-
Sex Drive
James Marsden tries and fails to make this movie worth it. he was far and away the best and funniest part in the movie as the main character's brother. A couple of internet cutaways were also amusing, but for the most part the movie was extremely sloppy, uncomfortable, nonsensical, and just not funny. The relationship between the main character and his best gal friend was pretty sweet--I'll give it that.
C
I found it interesting that these two movies sort of have a theme that there is a difference between sex and love, yet both movies have ridiculous amounts of sexual content and nasty jokes.

Changeling
I must have read a mediocre review for this movie, because I wasn't very excited about it before watching. However, both my mom and friend lobbied enough for it that I eventually ended up watching. It was.... quite amazing, I must say. The story is gripping (need to check how much is actually true), and Angelina Jolie's performance is stunning. I had always written her off as an (extremely) pretty face, but she owns the role. And of course, Clint "The Man" Eastwood delivers as director, giving us another intensely personal film (I just love the juxtaposition between his famous acting roles and his great directing jobs... always makes me laugh). Altogether? Awesome.
