What can I say? Wow. Best movie of 2008.

The reason it won't make my number one? It didn't make me think. It was a beautiful story, beautifully directed, beautifully shot, and beautifully acted in a beautiful movie. But...it didn't make me think. I just enjoyed.

So Doubt still holds number 1 for me...so far.

It's a tough decision for me, to be honest. Doubt... affected me in a way that a movie hadn't in a long time. But... Slumdog... was such a colossal undertaking, and yet they made it so excellent. So. Yeah. Is difficult. XD

Basic Instinct

This was the second time I had watched it, and I really disliked it this time. The plot is boring until the second half, where it gets overstuffed with twists and complications and practically collapses under its own weight. That, and it's practically a porno with some A-list talent. Although, the "talent" part of "A-list talent" is questionable.

Also... I just saw Taken.

It was an immensely fun movie, and very suspenseful. Of course, it doesn't compete with most of the movies I've seen lately, but it was definitely an excellent thriller. It's no Bourne, but it was great for the type of movie that it was.

The hero is absolutely pure, innocent, represented as sinless. He's everything that's good and holy. The villains in this story are stereotypically evil and conflict perfectly with our perfect hero. They blind children and care only for money. As for the way that the story itself unfolds...classic fairy tale. And everything turns out perfectly in the end.

In my opinion, Slumdog Millionaire was a feel-good crowd pleaser.
