Having said that, so far I like the snow biomes as #1. Right behind that, and truly closer than maybe I think, would be a tie between mountainous and desert. Mountains usually have basically EVERYTHING (food, seeds, trees, dirt, stone, etc) but in the case of the desert it's all about the glass...er...sand. And sandstone.
I'm kinda liking jungle as #3. Kinda.

Snowy deserts are very rare. Minecraft has a biome temperature system that tries to make temperatures change gradually instead of quick. In your case it was a rare occasion.

I'm on this one server where I face a weird situation: It snows on one half of my home and rains on the other! MC is strange...
I love my pancakes. I like French toast, too. Waffles aren't bad either. I miss my omelets...
