Punisher: War Zone
Extremely violent.
Exceptionally entertaining and funny.
Very exciting.
I liked how it didn't take itself too seriously, save for when it was dealing with the loss of Castle's family and that of an FBI agent. The action was interspersed with goofiness, which I thought helped it for the most part.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind
I really don't know about this movie.
I kinda liked it, kinda didn't.
The ending left me confused.
So....

You want confusing?
2001: A Space Odyssey
What a head trip. Not to mention a spectacular display of directorial skill.

Yeah, I want to see that, but I'm a bit worried it might be confusing.

While Smith's performance was good....it wasn't good enough to save the plot. I personally think it's more deserving of a D, but I love Will Smith, and I think the concept of the movie was good, but they just didn't pull it off right.

Wanted
Uhm. Yeah. I didn't recall that this movie came from the man responsible for Night Watch until about halfway through the film when I looked it up.
That made me sad. The movies ought not be compared, but I found Night Watch creative, original, interesting, and well executed (on the whole). I found Wanted to be dry, predictable, uninspired... and created exclusively for 17 year old guys.
Pros: Somewhere in there... for like a minute... there was an interesting base premise that a quality movie or game could have been based on. Some action segments were enjoyable. Konstantin Khabenskiy (aka Anton in Night Watch) had a part in the film.
Cons: Not enough Khabenskiy. Too much stupid use of sexuality (aka Angelina Jolie... and Angelina Jolie wearing a dress for one reason and one reason only). Flat characters. Derivative direction. General meh-ness. Moral poop.
C- for having some potential... and choosing to throw that away in favor of a flat testosterone-fest.

It's because he's Canadian isn't it?
Dark Knight.
B- Too slow and over-hyped.
Legend of the Shadowless Sword

Good story, but the action was overdone in the typical Korean way.

Few rentals this week:
The Dark Knight
Still a great movie. The Joker was an awesome character.

Indiana Jones 4
Campy fun, I didn't like the plot theme, but whatever.

The Incredible Hulk
One of my favorite comic book movies. Still rocks.

Speed Racer
One of the best family films that didn't make me roll my eyes. Great action, good DS game.

Seven Pounds
An excellent drama. It's a slower one, but it gives you time to grow with the characters that you'll care about at the end. Not my favorite movie, but very well made.

Seven Brides For Seven Brothers
Classic. It may not deserve an A, but I'm giving it one just because I've grown up with it and love it. XD

Good Will Hunting
Well, scratch another off my list. Amazing acting: Robin Williams and Matt Damon are both fantastic, and it's worth seeing this movie just for their performances.

Yes Man
It was entertaining enough for a 4 dollar matinee, but it didn't quite click with me... I couldn't tell if it was because I just didn't care for it or I just don't like Jim Carrey's brand of humor anymore.
Two problems I had with the movie: The whole premise was just kind of lame. I mean, the main character came across as a weak-willed idiot. And I don't mind the weak premise so much as I felt that the movie just wasn't funny enough to carry it. I chuckled a few times, but I don't think I laughed out loud once... I guess I need something a little sharper than "Hur hur he had sex with that old lady!" or "Hur hur his butt was showing on the motorcycle!"
Also, I liked Zooey Deschanel in Elf, and I wouldn't say she was bad in this, but she and Jim Carrey just didn't have a lot of chemistry.
It was okay, but nothing I'd go out of my way to see again. I'd give it a C
