Um. Wow. I am...in complete shock. That was...amazing. And moving. And beautiful. And...huh. I have nothing more to say.
What was the last movie you watched?

Myth: Robert Shaw immediately agreed to lead the 54th regimentbattousai akuma wrote:How was it slightly off?
Fact: Shaw at first disagreed, but after two weeks of looking back on it, he agreed to lead them.
Myth: The regiment is not supplied with shoes due to having a racist quartermaster
Fact: The quartermaster provided them with everything needed, and Shaw knew him a reasonable man.
Myth: The regiment learns quickly that their pay is only $10, and not $13 like white soldiers. Upon hearing this, Shaw refuses payment along with everyone else in a dramatic fashion.
Fact: Shaw continued to accept payment, and the regiment did not learn of the pay cut until weeks later.
Just a few of the inconsistencies found in the movie. There were more, but it's 3:00 AM here and I'm tired.

Stardust. I was surprised at how mediocre some of the CGI effects were, but everything else was near perfect, everything you'd want in a fantasy adventure. B+

I LOVE that movie. Mostly because of Robert DeNiro.Trudogger wrote:Stardust. I was surprised at how mediocre some of the CGI effects were, but everything else was near perfect, everything you'd want in a fantasy adventure. B+

Tropic Thunder
I enjoyed it even more this time around, mostly because I could put up the subtitles and catch all of the dialogue. Possibly the best comedy of the year, and an excellent film in its own right. Also, one of those few films that I could watch simply for the acting performance of one actor - Mr. Robert Downey Jr.
B+

Edward Scissorhands. It WOULD have been Sweeney Todd, but the small child in the house was being a brat, so we had to change it.

Edward Scissorhands is better anyway.
I saw Indy 4. It wasn't an awesome great movie or anything, but I was entertained. But then, my expectations were low. I'll give it a B-.

A vegan atheist walks into a bar. Bartender says "Hey, are you a vegan atheist? Just kidding, you've mentioned it like eight times already."

Australia
What a disappointment.
Moving sequences of excellent acting, amazing music and stunning cinematography were repeatedly overshadowed by multiple instances of ham-fisted acting, racism, undue silliness, meandering story threads and an ultimate pointless feel to the whole affair. If this is a story about the grand place that is Australia, then I would have to assume that either people aren't very interesting in Australia (not true), or that there are a multitude of stories that are far better than this.
A stunning disappointment.

You were telling him about Buddha, you were telling him about Mohammed in the same breath. You never mentioned one time the Man who came and died a criminal’s death...

What a confusing and dull movie. The English voice acting was about 70% terribad. The stylized violence was very meh, rarely funny, story was alright, and the trailer looked better than the movie. I was rooting for this movie since critics didn't like it, but I can see why. Don't waste your time.
