You were telling him about Buddha, you were telling him about Mohammed in the same breath. You never mentioned one time the Man who came and died a criminal’s death...

"One Final Scar" <- Kenny Yeager

Oh wait... that's my song. Blast.

I sat down to compose a new song today... and I found myself highly influenced by the music from a couple of games I've been playing lately: Scarface and Final Fantasy XII

I've got a 12-bar-blues-inspired progression with really smooth, 80s-esque keyboard synth sounds and, of course, a loopable piano riff sorta thing that's become a bit of a staple in my music.

Now... I just gotta figure out how to expand this song.

"Only Gift That I Need" <- Dashboard Confessional

Weird that this just got stuck in my head. Still... it's one of my favorite Dashboard songs ever.

You'll be leavin' for the winter,
But I can see that it's true it's the right thing for you.
But it's tough to be moved with the holiday spirit,
But to tell you the truth I had big plans for Christmas
And high hopes for you....

I'll be livin' off your phone calls, in your letters, and your postcards.
Every single word is like a secret wish come true.
But who cares if we're apart for the big days
Since the small ones that made me fall in love with you (fall in love with you).

I want you here by my side
Cold nights, and fires, and white wine.
And dreams of holidays to come.
But I'll wait for spring to bring you to me.
Only gift that I need.
