The Shining
WIN. Stanley Kubrick has once again made an amazing film, this time a disturbing horror film with an incredible performance from Jack Nicholson. The film oozes quality.

Oh, the same goes for me. I'm definitely checking out the rest of Kubrick's films.
I just watched There Will Be Blood again. What a stunning achievement, Daniel Day-Lewis is a god amongst mortals when it comes to acting.

Just. Wow. Absolutely hysterical. Totally star-packed... and for the better. Then again... so... thoroughly inappropriate. I can't exactly recommend it because of that... even if I did laugh my head off most of the movie. XD

The Lost world: Jurassic Park
It was much better than the book, and was a great movie.
I loved it.

Uh...
I'm pretty sure you just said the movie is better than the book.
I'll have to let that slide.
Quantum of Solace
Loved it the second time, again. Stylish, exciting, and simply one of the best action films of the year.

You were telling him about Buddha, you were telling him about Mohammed in the same breath. You never mentioned one time the Man who came and died a criminal’s death...

Excuses, excuses.

A History of Violence
I enjoyed it far more than I did the first time I saw it. This time, I saw a sort of damaged beauty in the story, a story about family and hope. But I remained dismayed by the unfaithfulness of the adaptation from the graphic novel, regardless of how strong the script was on its own merits. That said, as a film, A History of Violence is an excellent specimen. It is not, however, a particularly strong adaptation.
If that makes sense.
B+

Just... brace yourself. It's pretty disturbing.

That is next on my list. I know it'll be disturbing, but that's kind of a staple of Kubrick's films. I'm ready.
I just finished Knocked Up. Wonderful, hilarious movie. I caught even more that I missed during the first few viewings.

Both the novel and the film versions of A Clockwork Orange are haunting and well worth it. I love them both equally, though for different reasons. Part of it is Kubrick's direction; part is Burgess' prose.
I just saw Quantum of Solace. Again.
I'm going to give it the same rating of "B+," but I did enjoy it more. The only reason that the rating stays the same is that I do not view the film as its precursor's equal in any way. There is, however, much more story here than I first saw. Very pleased with the result.
