Yeah, I'd heartily recommend codeigniter, as it's basically my ideal vision of a framework. Using it without any modifications creates a simple website, and you make changes to it accordingly. The nice thing about it is the modularity, so if you write a controller and view for the framework, you simply drop them into the appropriate folders. Boom. Done. This also makes it nice when you want to download a library written for codeigniter, just place and done.
It's pretty awesome. Also, super easy to learn.

While some of the companies I worked with used at least some form of agile, and even a couple things similar to XP, it's not been quite fully implemented. Don't really know many that would put up with it.
This being said, having a very experienced epic coder/architect code review your work is probably one of the single greatest learning experiences you can find in software development.
