The Prestige
Yet another Christopher Nolan classic, this one matches right up with Memento and Dark Knight. It's dark, darker than both Memento and Dark Knight in my mind. And so...very...painful to watch as these two men let their hatred and their obsessions take control of them and lead them to some truly terrible deeds. Powerful film.

Donnie Darko
Very...creepy. Very...weird. One of the weirdest movies I've seen in my entire life. I didn't quite pick up the entire plot connection deal...how could anyone possibly on the first viewing? I'd need to be convinced to see it again, though. So for right now I really can't rate it. Bummerz.

Yeah Obigon, I had to watch it a few times, plus read things online, and I still don't understand all of it.
Also, why in the world do people need to ruin it by making a sequel? I mean, some (actually, a lot) movies just don't need them, they can stand on their own, and this is one of them.

I agree. A sequel for Donnie Darko? You've gotta be kidding.
Just saw One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and am wondering why I've never seen it before. It was fantastic in every way that a movie can be. The script, the acting, the directing, and all the other bits and pieces along with 'em. Wow.

The Bucketlist - funny

The Bucket List was a lot of fun.
And, yeah...if you're wondering. I DO have a lot of time on my hands lately. Been sick and at home since Wednesday, so...I've had a lot of time to watch movies.
Just saw Brokeback Mountain. The cinematography was gorgeous in some places...not near the beauty that was captured in No Country, but still pretty good. The script and story were great, but not outstanding. Neither was the acting all around. But Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal (and particularly Ledger) were both fantastic.

That pretty much sums up my opinion of that movie. Of course, when I went to see it, it was in a theater full of people, and I was making sarcastic comments within earshot of these four old lesbians who were on a double date. They gave me some dirty looks on the way out of the theater, let me tell you. Anyhoo...
Dan in Real Life - Meh. Steve Carrel was good, and he certainly demonstrated that he can play a serious part. My biggest problem with the movie is that by the end, I pretty much hated every character. C+

Kingdom of Heaven
Remind me not to watch THAT one again
I mean seriously, the synopsis is basically a place where stupid guys go to hook up with chicks and kill a lot of bad guys all in the name of Christ....seriously now! Not to mention that their the chicks were ALWAYS wearing make up......and it's suppose to be the 1100s yeah, brilliant one there....oh and my favorite....the guys all had really clean faces when they weren't doing something, AND their hair never seemed to get dirty no matter how much they crawled in the dirt!.....this is the most unrealistic movie I've ever seen!
Even *shudder* "Manos: The Hands of Fate" was more realistic than this movie!!!!!

I...really like Kingdom of Heaven. And I really dislike it at the same time. In some ways it was a work of art. Take the cinematography, for instance. So beautiful. I'm also a big fan of the camerawork and the soundtrack. And the story is fantastic.
But...there are a number of historical inaccuracies that really can't be overlooked (and I'm not just talking about makeup), the script isn't as strong as I would have liked it to be, and...Orlando Bloom. The guy was pretty much terrible and is ultimately what holds back the film from being great. Sad.
Anyway. Enough of my rambling. Spanglish was the last movie I saw. Very cute, very heartwarming, and much more serious than I thought it would be. Wasn't anything really special, so I don't plan on seeing it again.

So, wait, you're saying that the rich didn't use makeup back then, and that the Crusades (which saw... a bunch of stupid guys go and hook up with chicks and kill bad guys in the name of Christ) didn't happen? Whoa, now.

Very good movie. Techno music hurts it, but, still, really good movie. It could just be that I live 10 minutes from where the movie is based on though.

Surprisingly decent. I thought it would be horrible, but it was worth watching. Made me smile and chuckle in a couple spots.

The Big Lebowski
Another great script from the Coens. It's a strange one, to be sure, but I enjoyed it quite a bit.

A lot better than I expected from a CG movie put out by Funimation. The story started out sucking epically, but managed to build steam clear into the film's conclusion (which was, actually, also the climax). The voiceover work... was surprisingly decent. Still, it's the art direction in the film that I loved. The semi-cel-shaded look that had the movie look like an extremely fluid anime... was pretty sweet.
