Essentially, electroplating is using electricity and an acidic medium to coat metal with another metal. It's a cool process. You can use it to coat, say, quarters with copper, or pennies with silver (in theory...and I'm uncertain why you'd want too, but....you know. XD). Or, as I would use it, steel with copper.

A monetary system is like one we use now; we trade a quantity of a specific currency (currently worthless paper and digital numbers) for other things of value (games, food, wombats, ETC). In a barter and trade system, you trade valuable things (gold, food, wood, stones, toilet paper) for other valuable things. In a very simple explanation.
