Well, when someone's trying to give a review, they aren't supposed to look past the flaws. It's their job to expose them, not ignore them and say "but guys come on it's hard for Sega to think of new stuff for Sonic"

I'm defensive when people criticize something they don't completely understand. It's been that way since I was a kid, man. Yes, I've known Sonic since I was a kid. But even so, I hate when people do that.

I mean, every time I play a new sonic game, I'm hoping that it'll be good and try to make as many concessions as I can. Because I love Sonic.
But after I put down the controller, I just have no desire to go back.

If you haven't played it, I'd recommend Sonic Generations. It took the best gameplay from Unleashed, re-imagined classic levels in HD and even made a Sonic 06 level playable...and if you don't like Modern Sonic, there's just as many Classic Sonic levels to enjoy, which tries its best to recapture the gameplay of the originals (unlike Sonic 4: Ep 1 which Sega tried to pass off as being like the classic Sonic games without having the classic gameplay).
Not only that, its on the PC (you can probably get it real cheap during a Steam sale) and some of the mods are pretty cool (like playing Classic Sonic in 3D).
If I could recommend one modern Sonic game, Generations would be it.
I played it on my brother's PS3, and I bought it for the PC, but I have yet to even install it. Yes, Generations is the best out of all the new ones I've tried (this includes Adventure, Black Knight, Colors, Episode 1 and 2, and even some Unleashed), and enough for me to pick it up during the Steam Summer Sale, but I'm just not motivated to play it like the 1/2/3/knuckles.
In that case, get ready because SEGA is making an HD version of Sonic Adventure 2. For PSN and XBLA. And PC most likely. They also have Jet Set Radio coming in HD, too.
Here is the new Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing: Transformed videos. This game is coming out in two months. Can't wait.
The music for the third trailer sounds cool.
And am I the only one who noticed a racing track based on Sonic Colors?
