Very, very disappointing. Horrible scriptwriting for the dialogue, characters with the depth of pen ink, poorly directed, and three separate stories that come together at the end move along at such a deluded and weak pace that...well...basically the movie itself sucked. For families with younger movies, I can suggest it. Because it was a decent family film. But if I want to go with classic family entertainment I'll pick up a Pixar film.

Zodiac.

Yet another David Fincher movie that blows my freaking mind. First Fight Club, then Se7en, now Zodiac. I didn't get it at first, then I talked through it with a good friend of mine (thanks, Drew) and I realized the awesomeness.

Also, like Se7en, I doubt I'll watch this movie again for a long, long time. Because just like Se7en it took me into dark places which make the film uncomfortable to watch. Which is amazing. Fincher said that he doesn't like the movies that entertain. He likes the movies that scar. I can see that clearly.

Crash.

Powerful film about racism, though it didn't amaze me. Don't think it deserved the award for Best Picture

Amazing cast. Winding script with a crazy insane twist at the end. Works for me.

You were telling him about Buddha, you were telling him about Mohammed in the same breath. You never mentioned one time the Man who came and died a criminal’s death...

Must see Hellboy 2.

The Hunted.

Very, very generic thriller. The only thing keeps the movie from sucking is Tommy Lee Jones and Benecio Del Toro. And their performances aren't all that great due to the mediocre script. Not really worth the time.

Also, esophagus, I picked up Capote today. :)

Yesh. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was absolutely amazing. The movie itself...was very difficult to watch. Very sad, very thought-provoking. But very, very good.

Journey to the Center of the Earth

I saw it in a non-3D theater (none in Alaska :(), but I really enjoyed it, even if I didn't have things pop out at me. It was a fun, if a bit campy family movie. Brendan Fraser did a great job as the reluctant hero type, but the other two performances by the guide and nephew were lackluster to say the least. My family liked it, and the only thing I can say is that it wasn't long enough, and the ending ended way to soon. But it alludes to a sequel, and I hope that'll be better.

I say that's a fair assessment. (Except I saw it in 3-d :D )

I enjoyed the first half of the movie, but as it went on, it just got dull. The plot twist was decent, but it's such a morally bankrupt movie. The special effects were alright, and the gun fights were decent, but it was a bit over the top for my tastes. Not enough substance. "Grab a gun and you're life will be better!"

The Bank Job

For the first chunk of the movie, I had a hard time even continuing to watch it. It started off pretty unexciting, unimaginative, and overly saturated in nudity. However, once the bank job actually takes place, the movie pulls a complete 180. The crazy amount of inter-connectedness among the characters was awesome and interesting... the intricacies grew rapidly in number. The pacing found its groove. The sexuality... reduced dramatically.

It's definitely not a movie I can just recommend to anyone due to the large amounts of nudity (and considerably large amount of profanities)... but I was presently surprised by the end.

Good film, I enjoyed it a lot.

Brings backs memories of Toy Story.

March of the Penguins

A very illuminating documentary on the emperor penguin.

A (From a documentary fan standpoint.)

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds end

Lame title, but solid action flick.

I liked Pirates 1 better though.

Dark Knight.

I already posted my thoughts on this in the Dark Knight thread. Basically, it was a masterpiece. The greatest superhero movie of all time. And don't even try to convince me otherwise because it's impossible.

A phenomenal movie. I saw it on the IMAX and was not disappointed. If you haven't seen the movie or want to see it again, IMAX is the way to go. It was mind blowing.

10/10

I don't know if I've ever given a movie that high of a score before, and I doubt I'll ever do it again.
