Fairly, because they punch like a truck. However, if the sun is up, it's fun to keep running them around until they burn themselves to death.

How annoying are spiders in Minecraft?

Given their apparent scarcity, very. I think I saw my fourth one last night, and managed to kill it. Now I actually have enough string to make a bow. Finally.

But what's rarer, it seems, are chickens. I've only got one feather in my inventory so far. (Well, I've played other single-player games where there are lots of chickens, but on this server, they all seem to be hiding from me....)

It is rare to have all the types of animals nearby when you load a world. If you want some chickens I give away eggs at my shop.

Do you like mining in Minecraft?

I may have to take a look!

Actually, I do find it interesting! It's a bit like exploring, except you have the additional advantage of making your own tunnels - or network of tunnels, which is what I'm considering for the resource world. :) The element of danger adds to the excitement, too - you never know if you're going to break through into a monster-infested cavern or a pool of lava.

The game is quite well-balanced. I'm surprised as to how effective the game really is.

Don't know. I haven't caved yet. :) The mines I've made have all been hand-dug, rather than going into a pre-existing cave and seeing what I can find.

However, there is one spot near Lizard Cove that is a cave, but I haven't ventured into it yet. We'll see what happens....

One block that I've always liked the look of is the chiseled stone block. I think it makes a great decorative accent to tunnels. I'm thinking of creating an underground tunnel to connect all my buildings, and those will be lining the lower part of the wall.

I don't know - I haven't encountered them all yet.

Right now, I'm leaning towards anything that has naturally-occurring giant mushrooms. So roofed forests, mushroom islands and, in the Pocket Edition, swamps. Of course, the roofed forests may be one of my favorites right now because that's where my character is on the Christ Centered Gamer server. It also resembles Idaho in some ways. Without the giant mushrooms or creepers, of course. Witches and zombies... well, there are plenty of strange people who live here....

There are quite a bit of different mobs, and as you advance they get stranger.
Have you encountered an enderman yet?

I believe I've seen two. Managed to avoid both successfully. I think one of them had been stealing pieces of my mushroom....

I would have to say the potential. I've spent quite some time looking at the area on the dynamic map, thinking about what I want to improve and how to change it. I want to keep the shape of the bay intact (it looks like a leaf!) but I also want to add improvements to make it more like a nice vacation destination / settlement. I have a lot of ideas that I want to implement (e.g. the viewing platform, which I may start working on next, a lumbermill, a bridge across the river to the west, a cabin so my character won't be confined to sleeping in the "Stonecutter's Workshop," a lighthouse, and more). It's fun to visualize where these elements are going to go and how I want them to look.
