Eh, not really worth it so far as ballistics go. Now, a .22 LR/.22 Mag convertible revolver would make a fine snake gun imo.

They're nice. My buddy has two (might belong to his dad, don't know). They're nice guns. You got the .22LR for targets, and the .22 mag for obliterating chipmunks. <_<

Marlin?

Marlin rifles are superb. I own a couple, and I don't really think there's a company that makes a more accurate rifle for the price.

Which one you looking at?

I forget the exact model that I was looking into buying, but it had the black and gray laminated stock with the thumbhole and heavy stainless barrel. Beautiful gun, shoots great... and just feels great. But a bit pricey for a .17, which is why I've yet to get it.

That's the 917VST

I was actually looking at the 917VT, which is that, but in more of a natural color wood stock with a blued barrel.

Yep, that's the one.

Yeah, I actually like the natural colored stock a little better. But I'd be buying this rifle for mainly just hunting, and the stainless steel barrel would certainly help if I went out in rainy/wet/snowy weather. If I were buying just for plinking? I'd probably go with the blued, as I don't usually plink in the rain. :p

I have, but the work required to clean the gun down of all moisture (taking them apart and all) outweighs the fun of plinking.

Do you have a target range around your place?

Well, way I'm looking at it, is that most stainless barrels are more or less mirror polished. Can't tell for certain with the online pics. Basically, I see no need to yell to varmints, "Hey you, I'm over here!"

Also, if you want stainless with the natural stock, just rebarrel it.

And, if you can call it that. Closest range is only 200 yards.

...

Yeah.....

IMO, 600 yard minimum for doing any real marksmanship training.

I'd like 1000.

haha

With one of those, yeah. Longer ranges would be better.

You need to get yourself some land.

Being out in the middle of nowhere is awesome when it comes to hunting/shooting.

amirite?

Yeah.

I may move to the UP, as I'm told the land is cheap there. I'd love to get some... but that takes money.

Nope.

Snow's an excuse to curl up next to a fire with a cup of coffee and a book.

Or go snowmobiling. <_<

Just need a flamethrower to get it off the driveway.

True enough. XD

You should move to Michigan. <_<

Sound like a plan?

It's not a bad state at all, if you don't mind a poorer economy.

Economy's no prob, people will always pay for some things. Manual labor, their enemies untimely demises, hook...s for their hands, beer, etc.

And, maybe. I'd need to check gun and knife laws.

The gun laws ain't too bad atm.

Only complaint is that you gotta be 21 to buy a handgun/handgun ammo.

But in like three/four months I'm gonna be able to walk into a store and buy any shotgun/rifle and ammo.

Man, I long for that day.

XD

Not sure on the knife laws, though. Haven't checked in a while.

What's the gun age limit in FL?
