My Cygnarmy is mostly shooty, but the faction itself seems to have plenty of punchy stuff...the problem I can see is how very little of it is built to punch hard, or take hard punches in return, since just from comparing stat lines, my armor is lower than a lot of other factions. So that sort of negates the melee side of things. Even my Stormblades have a shooting attack that's almost as powerful as their glaives, and the warjacks that are solely melee seem to be meant to negate other people's attacks (the Stormclad's tremor special attack, and the Lancer's Shock Shield). So I'd really like to be able to use Menoth or Khador jacks...that would totally throw off the balance though. XD
Essentially, Wombats?

Protectorate forces would be more than happy to fight by your side just as soon as you do away with the evil magic and accept the Creator.
And wombats probably go well with refried beans and biscuits.

Flames purify. They burn away wickedness.

Actually, I do like the fluff behind Kreoss and the Paladins of the Order of the Wall a lot. I think if I could build an army around them, I'd be more inclined to take up Menoth. Fire aside, I like the fluff of the Cygnarans a bit better. And I can name my Stormwall "Thor".
How about them Cryx?

Heh my Menoth army is built entirely around Kreoss, though I've only ever used one version of him. I should probably finish the mounted version at some point...
Cryx just seems... weird... though I do like the fluff of them being ruled by an evil undead dragon 'cause that's just cool.

Nice. I actually didn't like him until I read the story arch in the Colossal's book. He's pretty cool. And I find the whole undead pirate angle pretty cool, since I really enjoyed Pirates of the Carribbean.
That whole story is interesting, I think. With the Legion of Everblight being ruled by one of his progeny, and them fighting back and forth to consume each other. I think the Warmahordes fluff is vastly underrated on the whole.

Dude when my local gaming store was putting up peoples' names and quotes as part of a decorating/fundraising maneuver I almost went with Kreoss' personal quote from his Grand Exemplar version:
“My sword, my suffering, and my soul all belong to the Creator. Claim them he may, they will ever serve him.”
-Grand Exemplar Kreoss
But instead I wound up going with Psalm 144:1 instead
Blessed be the LORD my strength,
which teacheth my hands to war,
and my fingers to fight
And to your question: no wedgie can ever be big enough for such evil

Awesome. Straight up awesome. There's a lot of things in the menoth fluff I don't like, but the bits like that--which seems almost pulled straight from Christianity--make it very hard for me to stay away.
If they were more "help the heretic" and less "burn the heretic" I think I would've chosen them over Cygnar. Even though I do love slinging lightning.
Is it odd I'm far more tempted to get into 30K than I am 40K? O_o

The story of 30K is more interesting and coherent. The problem is that every. single. game. of. 30K. is. Space. Marine. vs. Space. Marine.

Loaning Babylon 5 DVDs to a friend to spread the gospel of B5 because it's not available on Netflix/Amazon Prime Instant?
Don't worry. I ripped the discs so I can re-watch in the meantime.

Does 30K stuff not work with 40K?
I was under the impression it did, so you could go back and forth with one army...if you can't, well dang. That'd get old quick. O_o

It does... for the most part. A lot of the equipment and minis would cross over fine, but the lists are entirely different. So a unit of Space Marines for 30K is going to have a very different structure and loadout from a 40K unit.
For example, a Tactical Squad in 40K might be 10 marines, with 1 heavy weapon, 1 special weapon and 1 sergeant included. In 30K, a Tactical Squad might be 20 marines with a detachment of 5 more marines with special weapons.
Some of the vehicles and equipment also don't cross over so neatly, but some do.

Extra points costs too, probably?
I think I could live with it. I really like Salamanders fluff.
Does it ever just boggle your mind?

Not sure about the points, but I think they're comparable. As I recall, a base Space Marine is 16 points in both systems.
Yes, yes it does.
