Dude, that entire show is a case study in missed opportunities. The premise of Voyager was AMAZING and they completely frittered it away with unused TNG scripts and lame ideas. I agree that those characters needed a LOT more development than they got. One can argue that Harry and Chakotay got SOME character development in terms of backstory, but the characters underwent very little development over the course of the series. Harry kinda got a little more confident and assertive, but not very much.

The stagnation of that series was so bad it was the reason Ron Moore left. He wanted to develop an arc where the Voyager would lead a rag tag fleet to find Earth...

... and got inspired to do Battlestar Galactica. So there's that good that came of it, at least.

I agree with Threshold as the worst Star Trek episode ever, although a close runner-up is The Alternative Factor (TOS). Oooh... what a stinker.

Another favorite of mine (despite also not realizing its full potential) is the Equinox 2 parter(VOY). That one could have been developed into a fantastic theatrical film.

Yeah, Ron Moore is one of my favorite TV show writers, even if the ending to BSG kinda sucked (They really wrote themselves into a hole during Season 3...).

Thoughts on Abrams as the director of Star Wars VII and Star Trek? I swear, if I see lens flare in Star Wars VII like there was in 2009 Trek, I will make a video like this:

*Show some ship bridge, when suddenly a black hole appears with lens flare!*
"Captain, a black hole! It's firing lens flare at us!"
*Ackbar Clip* "It's a trap!"
*A warp core falls into frame and explodes, destroying the ship*

Heh, that question reminds me of my first marriage.

So yeah, in game terms...

Sorry, Deep... Forgot to answer this one earlier.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Star Wars, but Trek is a total loss for me. It isn't the continuity change, it isn't the casting, it isn't even the lens flare. The problem I have with those is that it completely goes against the feel of Star Trek, and there are WAY too many plot holes and bizarre blunders for me to be able to enjoy them.

I wholeheartedly agree with plot holes, especially Into Darkness...ugh. I liked that movie the first time I saw it, but watching it again...ugh. It hacked me off. I like this quote from Roger Ebert's review: "the Gene Roddenberry years, when stories might play with questions of science, ideals or philosophy, have been replaced by stories reduced to loud and colorful action."

On the other hand, the new movie might be decent, since Abrams is no longer directing and Simon Pegg wrote the script. I'm holding judgement though...

The whole thing makes me hope against hope that this new Trek show either isn't in the movie continuity, or ignores all of it.

I had a brief flirtation with the genre in high school when we were gonna play an RPG called.... Cyberpunk. Never happened though.

Nearly always the latter. Can't think of an exception off the top of my head.

I played it once, and liked it, but that was in like, 1990.

They reprinted it in 2014. I'd like to get a copy, if for history alone. It's another game I'd have trouble finding players for. XD

Warmachine needs a rules mechanic similar to 40K's allies system?

Because I'd seriously love access to flame throwers. I know there is the fiery magical dwarven mercs, but that's not really as cool as a warjack spewing flame.

Yeah I don't know that they'll ever do it. Warmachine doesn't really build its factions around the idea of good and evil, more like everybody's gray, and some are more gray than others. I think the Mercs faction is sort of their equivalent, in that it gives access to stuff you normally couldn't use (sort of.)

I feel your pain though. My faction is all about flamethrowers, but very weak on conventional shooty stuff. I'm okay with that for the most part, because that's my style anyway, but it would have been nice to have the option...
