Maybe he doesn't like them. Also, don't say this is better than that when they are in genres as different as Blues Rock and Black Metal. I'm not defending CoF here, I'm just being realistic.

As for your question, Caleb. No they do not cast spells on the audiance, they would probably be sued if they did.

Well, in sound, they're not. But if you take the idea that black metal bands were heavily influenced by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (which they were), which was, in turn, influenced by blues structure... then yes, they are alike.

Having been at several CoF concerts I can say with some veracity that they do in fact cast spells on the audience.

At least, that's the only explanation I can come up with for anyone actually being in attendance at a place where such awful noise is created.

I'm aware that Black Metal was influenced by NWBHM. I'm just saying it doesn't make sense to compare the 2.

Creed was a Christian crossover band. If I remember correctly members from Creed also created Alter Bridge. (once Creed disbanded)

I said "popular." Didn't mention anything about underground or unsigned bands. Or even bands signed by Solid State. Simply, popular Christian music.

Yes, that's true from what I've heard. And, just so you know, I don't like half, no, just about all of the bands on that list that I gave you guys. My music tastes have... changed, to say the least. Hey, people change all the time.

Because if you read the lyrics then they're totally Christian. Then again if you go by how talented and successful they are, then they're definitely Secular...

I'd say that problem encompasses more than the musical world.

They're secular.

I think the problem with Christian music the majority of Christian bands sound the same. Listen to Living Sacrifice and Blessthefall, the only difference between those bands is the singer for Living Sacrifice is has a deeper voice. But then there's bands that try way too hard to be different and end up being absolute crap. I'm looking at you Family Force 5.

It's not that hard to be Christian and still be good. Look at The Devil Wears Prada and Underoath.

On another note, I don't really like CoF anymore (except for 1 song that's instrumental). I got bored of Black Metal, and all the singers sound like dying animals.

It all depends on what people mean by "Christian Music." Do you mean, praise music? Or, do you mean that the band members are Christians? When most people refer to Christian music, they mean something that they heard on the radio. (mostly Praise music) I personally think that "Christian Music" means that the majority of the band members are Christians.

That said, I listen to mostly Christian music by my standards. I don't have any beef with secular artists/bands though. Just havn't heard too many that I really like.

Oh, yes. Michael W. Smith has been making me cringe for years now, and generic artists like Chris Tomlin and some other boring/annoying artists aren't exactly making the Christian music industry look like something to be proud of
