Thanks!
The background is a poster of a nebula I bought to use as the tabletop scenery for space-based wargames like Firestorm Armada and Star Trek:Attack Wing.

Thanks!
My wife wants me to do U.S.S. Defiant next but I haven't decided...

I second the Defiant.
DS9 is my favorite Star Trek, and the Defiant is my favorite ship. It's everything I would want in a starship: Fast, stealthy, powerful, and small enough to evade effectively. What it sacrifices for in defense it makes up for in maneuverability and offensive capability. And that's not counting the cloaking device that existed on the first Defiant.

Well, I was all set to get the
Defiant when I saw a very good deal on a model of the
Enterprise NCC-1701-C so I snapped it up. I guess that'll be my next project!

So it turns out that really good deal was for a considerably smaller model than I thought. This one's only 1:2500 scale. So I think I'll just get the larger one (1:1400 scale) later.

The box
My daughter has been itching to build a starship so I decided that, since it was a pretty simple kit, it would be a good first glue-together model for her.

Clipping parts from the sprue
She did fine putting it together with a little help from me. Next step: decals!

So we did eventually get some of the decals onto the ship but I think maybe her enthusiasm batteries ran low, so it's in the box, waiting to be finished.
Meanwhile, inspired by the reviews I've been writing for episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, I put in a bid today on a 1:1400 model of the
Enterprise-D.
Can't wait to start! I've built a copy of this kit before and it's pretty decent, as I recall. Hopefully I'll win the auction, 'cause I've already bid my limit on what I'm willing to spend on it...

Hehe thanks, and me too. (Obviously

)
So hooray! I won the auction! Can't wait to get started. Meanwhile, I've been carefully studying the
Enterprise on Star Trek:TNG and I noticed a color pattern I've never seen in any model or toy... some greenish panels on the neck.
It's kinda hard to see in this screenshot but if you look closely there are horizontal light green tinted stripes along the neck, starting just above the indent where the docking port and photon torpedo launcher is.
