He got the results back today, it's not cancer!! It's uric acid build-up which is growing and the doctors still want to treat it with meds (if possible) before removing it ( I wonder how that would be different if he had private insurance...)

Holy cow, he basically had gout in his hip?

Yes. His body produces so much uric acid it literally does not know what to do with it all and attaches uric acid to weird places like his shoulder muscles and now pelvic tumors. his kidney stones are uric acid crystals and he gets gout on a regular basis. :(

Ouch :( are there any dietary/lifestyle changes they've recommended?

In that book I was reading about the whole low carb thing, it had a short section in which it shows how this kind of diet can also improve gout symptoms by improving body chemistry. I wouldn't be surprised if the doctors advised him to avoid carbs.

Not sure on carbs but I know he can't eat wheat, shell fish, and has to limit his red meat intake.

But how will he enjoy America's classic oyster burger? :P

can't :\ You know how you can repel vampires with garlic? I can repel my brother with a shredded wheat biscuit.

Hopefully, what with the recent gluten free movement becoming more popular, he can find plenty of alternatives to wheat!

My uncle Steve is sick and has health problems even though he is only 32. He needs praying that he will get well soon.
