I dare say his performance in Game of Thrones is much better, but beware, for the show is very complex and mature.

So I have heard, the reason I do not watch it is because, well, we don't have cable, or HBO online, but the other reason is because it is so inappropriate from what people have told me.

I've heard the same as well as anti-Christian. There is some interest, but I don't have access to it as well unless I bought the series.
