So SEGA really is making a comeback, huh?

Great for talking hardware, hype, and games outside traditional genres.

I don't know the official source. But if this is true, then someone obviously did more deep research than most people would. And according to who uploaded this, they personally wished that they could upload actual (tangible) evidence. But this is the best they can do right now. SEGA is really keeping their lips shut tight.

That's not research, then - it's an insider leak. Someone inside SEGA is feeding information about the system to people outside the company, and likely risking their very employment status as a result. If they're caught, they will probably be fired (or possibly worse, depending on the nature of the contracts and nondisclosure agreements that they likely had to sign).

Or someone is stringing SEGA fans along by making stuff up, just for a laugh.

Which scenario seems more likely?

Some one would have to know a whole lot about how Sega's past consoles have worked in order to just make all that up. Then again, it isn't very likely that someone would risk their job leaking information on a secret project for no obvious reason.

Well, I apologize if I raise skepticism from any of you (I'm looking at you ChickenSoup). I just thought I'd post this since I found it. Could be something big, right?

It could be something big, and it would certainly be an interesting move on their part to try and enter the console scene again. Since Nintendo is slipping, they may have spotted an opportunity to try and become a player again. But at the same time, it's a big gamble, and companies are hesitant to take those kinds of steps in today's risky economy.

So it might be something, but it might not be something, too. Until some statement is actually released from SEGA, I remain skeptical, myself.

I'm not so sure that I can trust sega not to flub up, especially after the way they handled the recent phantasy star games (PSP2 Infinite, PSO2Western). When I see PSP2 Infinite in the US and properly translated, then I will consider it.

And exactly what does a game that is only available in Japan have to do with the possibility of a new console? :|

Sorry, I just had to ask.

Let me put it to you like this. SEGA is going to make their own games on their own console, right? Would you really want to support a company who are too lazy to localize their own games? Also consider one game... Alien: Colonial Marines, do we want more of THIS from SEGA? SEGA is too lazy to localize their own games properly, look at PSO2 Western, a game that was INTENDED to be released to the western world, but wasn't and should have by all logic.

That argument to me is a bit weak. First of all, by Sega making their own system, it could give them incentive to make better games, as there would be more at stake if their games flop. As many people can argue that the quality of Sega's games has decreased since going 3rd party.

Secondly, just because a company puts out some bad games, doesn't mean the whole company worked on those games. Even between each Sonic game, you have different teams of people working on them.

Lastly, saying that Sega should not make a console because of a few games is again, a weak argument as it is only your opinion that those games sucked and by taking a few examples you're painting Sega with one broad brush. Someone could say Sonic 06 sucked, thus we should never see Sega make anymore Sonic games. And yet Sonic Generations and Colors have been successful.

Not saying they are making their own system (the fact that they partnered with Nintendo tells me they're not, at least for a while). I just don't see the point in arguing that Sega should not make anymore consoles.

I think you're full of crap, SEGA made some GREAT games and still does today. Their localization DOES stink, look at the transition between Phantasy Star Portable and Phantasy Star Portable 2 if you need proof and I own both, so don't tell me I'm wrong or that it is an opinion. And if SEGA needs their own console to make better games, then I'd rather them not make games at all. This is an excuse, the scent of fanboyism. A bad game is a bad game...

So you're going to criticize SEGA for making a mistake with a couple of games? And you say that LAVA is full of crap too? Just because one game didn't get localized in America?

..........Really? :|

Whatever. Anyway, I need to clear something up here: everybody says that "SEGA can't make a console because they made a partnership with Nintendo". But they're making the partnership sound like they are merging companies. SEGA and Nintendo made a THREE GAME PARTNERSHIP. In other words, SEGA is just gonna make three exclusive titles for Nintendo systems. After that, the partnership is over.

Yeah, I'm done then.

I tried to approach your post with respect and simply addressed the logic of your post. And if all you can do in response is name call by accusing me of being a fanboy? Then continuing this discussion isn't worth it.

I can't communicate with someone who won't give me the same respect I gave them.

You're absolutely right. Which is why I said I won't be expecting them to make a new console "for a while". I guess it all depends on how well Sonic: Lost World will do as a Wii U exclusive, before they determine to do more games just for Wii U.
