For the record DMR, firmware is like the OS for your PSP.

I had updated mine to the latest version, so I had a headache of silly proportions trying to get a cfw onto mine. It can be done, though.

The lower firmware versions are more easily converted than the latest updates. If you've got yours current, I will say you should consider the gain before you go to all the work. It wasn't really worth it for me.

That said, it took me...a week or so of searching and working to find a source of info equal to that link CCGR posted. which will get you up and running.

So what you're saying is that the latest version will be harder to install if I have the latest PSP update?

correct, the older the firmware the easier to install CFW

I'm angry. I have to order another replacement screen because I tried to install the new one and I broke it by accident. Why don't I just get another PSP like a normal person......

Fun? You call accidentally breaking a piece of a much needed LCD screen after not playing a treasured game system for a long time FUN?

Which to me, it is. I've had a blast playing around with old NES.

I was. But then I had to insert the tabs. I tried to be as careful as I possibly could, and then the smallest tab broke off. I have to get another replacement screen now.
