I'm afraid I can't link you sites without falling into some legal gray area. However, I can suggest that you should use proxies and virus scanners. Google is your best friend.

Is it illegal if I download the original version because I can't get it? For example, say I wanted to download a Dreamcast game to emulate it. They don't make games for Dreamcast anymore, but is it still illegal?

As we've said, this is more a question of morality rather than legality. Is the game ever likely to be re-released? Was it ever released where you live? Could you pick it up at a local game store? (some stores still sell classic items)

It's illegal. Copyrights last for 50 years after the copyrights holder's death, unless the copyright is renewed.
So no, it's not legal, at least in our lifetime.
