I actually don't mind the show because it is pretty cleverly written and funny. It's a much better alternative to a lot of the girl-oriented fluff that tends to pollute children's programs (seriously - have any of you watched any of the Barbie movies? Ugh!).

However, keep in mind that I have an excuse to watch the show.

And no, My Little Ponies are not the only thing we watch. We intersperse it with episodes of Super Hero Squad and Transformers Rescue Bots, too. When the younger two aren't around, my eight-year-old daughter does tend to lean towards shows for older kids (such as some of the X-Men animated series - my influence as a Marvel junkie is rubbing off on her, and I couldn't be prouder).

So I can see the appeal behind the show (much more than the previous MLP series... see my statement about the Barbie movies to get my general impression of those... or Strawberry Shortcake. Ugh), but not to the point where I could be considered a fan.

I do admit that I do have a favorite pony, though - Twilight Sparkle. Why? Because her voice actor is Tara Strong, and I am a fan of her works. Seriously, look at all the things she's done!

I agree with this... It was the motivation for the woman who revived the show. She was frustrated at all the silly, insipid and boring programming that existed for little girls.

I rather lean toward Rainbow Dash, because she kicked a dragon in the face. That deserves recognition in my book.

Hey, if you're stuck watching this stuff anyway...

Besides, every single grown man on this site is here because he actively involves himself in things many people would consider childish (video games, Dungeons & Dragons, etc.)

At least Sstavix and I aren't into ponies, we just make the best of it.

Could you please elaborate on what you think is funniest part is of the writing? I'm not trying to argue with your opinion. I just felt the show was not as clever as bronies that I knew hyped it as. But maybe my standards are really high? I just felt most of the writing and humor targeted for adults was mostly pop culture references injected into the series. But maybe if someone can give me a different angle than just "the ponies act crazy" or "its got cultural references that go over the little kids' heads" I might see the appeal of its writing.

In comparison to alot of other kids shows that take themselves really seriously and even previous generations of MLP, I can see why MLP: FIP stands out. But I'm having a hard time seeing that when compared to say animated gems like Emepror's New Groove or even Adventure Time.

Phineas and Ferb is where it's at.
