Actually, I rarely if ever steal in TES/Fallout games unless a thieves guild quest requires it. More fun for me to do it the harder way.
Plus, tomb robbing is much more awesome cred than shelf burgling.

Though yeesh, one of the creepier ghost stories I ever read came out of Morrowind. XD Don't remember the name, but it was about the origins of Bone armor.
