It was actually proven, that the gamecube was the most structurally strong console among them all at the time. It could seriously take a whopping and still work.

Dude, I have a Wii and I'm still keeping my GC in my room with my old tv XDCountKrazy wrote:I KNOW RIGHT. It felt like the universe in your hands. I'll just never understand what was so bad about the GameCube. I always loved my PS2 more, but I never would have willingly parted with my Cube. :'(Dude, I friggin loved the gamecube controller o_o
Like I said, I keep my GC in my room and... well... the poor guy has fallen from about 3 or 4 feet two or three times and dangit that bad boy runs like a champ. :'3blacksinow wrote:It was actually proven, that the gamecube was the most structurally strong console among them all at the time. Yeah, the Gamecube is awesome.
So many good games for that system.
Oh, and I actually like the cartridges.
You can drop them off the roof, dunk them in water, and scratches mean nothing to them.
Why this guy made a video of him testing cartridges and discs,
he even drilled some holes into the cartridge and it still ran.
(of course when it got to a part in the game that was drilled it did not work.)
Also, I think the Legend of zelda games on the 64 is a lot more data then Cloud's hair.

There really were some great games for the Gamecube, heck, PSO Episodes 1&2 and 1&2 Plus were on the GC. So many wonderful times. It's a shame Nintendo didn't have anymore RPGs then they had for it though.

There's only one thing about the GameCube I can complain about; it was horrible for shooters. The button layout and c-stick were great for everything BUT shooters.

Probably, but remember that the writer probably used hyperbole to get their point across.JOJ650s wrote:Also, I think the Legend of zelda games on the 64 is a lot more data then Cloud's hair.
The problem wouldn't be that, but that the game is so massive it would require multiple cartridges to play. Which, as I stated earlier, didn't happen with the N64. Considering it was spread across three discs, it would have been a stripped-down experience had it come to the N64. That, I think, is why they shifted it to PS1.

I keep reading people complaining about the Nintendo sticking with cartridges for the N64, but people keep raving about Ocarina of Time. Can you imagine OoT with load times? How about load times before every Mario Kart race?
Not saying I agree with Nintendo's decision, but people need to look at the bigger picture.

And I don't necessarily think that it didn't pay off, I just think that it may have been more beneficial to jump to optical media earlier in the game (No pun intended, lol). I love the 64, and all the games on it. Barring the controller (I'm not an octopus, Nintendo), there aren't many other problems I have with it.
The big disadvantage of cartridges is that no matter how well you keep 'em, they stop working eventually. ...which also can happen with optical. So I don't even know where I'm going with this. XD

Cartridges, in my experience, tend to be sturdier and less fragile in general. Discs are not easily breakable per se, but dropping them will lead to scratches, so I consider them fragile.
I have SNES games that work like a charm and PS1 games that stutter because they're scratched up. Heck, I have PS2 games that won't work because of scratches (lest you think I'm hard on my games, they were that way when I bought them).

People treat discs similarly in the same way that they treat carterages, food for thought.

I disagree with the Gamecube part. I loved that little purple box. I got many hours of fun out of it.

Mine has, I kid you not, fallen down a set of stairs. And nine years later, it's still running.ChickenSoup wrote: Like I said, I keep my GC in my room and... well... the poor guy has fallen from about 3 or 4 feet two or three times and dangit that bad boy runs like a champ. :'3
