Through the shadow lands, and forgotten paths, you will find a road.

That was the only song I could think of that had the word "road" in it.

And then I listened to the rest of the CD, because I couldn't stop. O_O It's the Pringles of music.

That's interesting because I could probably think of about ten off the top of my head

"I walk a lonely road"
"Country roads, take me home"

ehh..

close enough. :P

That was funny...until Peter Jackson wrote it into the Hobbit.

I seriously had to contain my laughter at that point. Ruined the mov--

Well no, the movie was ruined anyway. That part sort of actually made it better.

Yeah. I was really hoping (in vain) that they wouldn't change the story. I don't know how many of you have read the book, but in the book Gandalf doesn't encounter Sauron. In fact, Sauron isn't in the book at all.

I think there was one, maybe two, sentences about Gandalf dealing with the sorcerer when he returned before the battle in the book. I do believe that the book also explicitly says that Azog ( the orc with the claw) is dead. Movie directors and their creative liberties! Ah they frustrate me so!

Yeah, the necromancer is indeed Sauron.
Though if I am correct, no one knew that till after the events of the Hobbit.

Though after thinking things over and over,
I think the thing I disliked the most... (Other than the whole love thing.)
would be how they portrayed Beorn in the movie.
They made him so serious and grim, when in the book he was actually fun to be around,
telling stories, and some humorous if I recall the narration correctly.

Not to mention the whole "I am the last of my kin" thing was also in poor taste,
when in the books, I recall Gimli saying the Beornings(Skin-changers) are the best bakers he knew.

(Whew, I finally got to vent. :) )

Well, they made up for what the messed up with that hilarious scene with Bombur in the barrel fighting the orcs. We went to see it in the theater and my dad died laughing when Bombur started doing his stuff.

That was the best moment in Cinema in 2013.

But it sort of demeaned the movie entirely, so I wouldn't say it "made up for" anything.

It was like..."We've already made the movie a joke, so let's add some comic relief. More so than an incredibly painful dwarf/elf romance".
