Joy Electric is Christian as well. The Monkees are the only secular band on that list, and they are classic rock so they don't count.

Yes, I know. But I occasionally listen to...*cries* All American Rejects. O_o...
christwarrior wrote:I'll listen to whatever I want. I can look past the fact that they are satanists and just listen to the music. Will I go to a concert? No, but I'll still listen to them.
Just found your statement funny ^_^.

I just couldn't listen to Satanist music. I wouldn't get anything from it aside from being able to say "Hey, I've heard those guys? You listen to them? Sweet."

I'm gonna have to go with Soup on this one. I have quite a bit of secular music in my iTunes, but I almost always avoid really spiritually dodgy and sexually explicit music.

It's not "satanist" music. It's black metal. And I said the band members are satanists, not their lyrics. Don't go around judging music before listening to it.

Ah, the "don't judge" complaint. I know thee well. Even you, my somewhat angry friend, judge things in your own way.
And I found the fact you said "good but for the fact their satanists" funny.
It go's back the the poo cookie.
It's like saying "This is a good cookie, except for the fact it has a little bit of poo in it"
I think it equates as a way to justify our actions by saying "it's only" or "just a little bit." It's a way of getting around saying "Yeah. It's there."
I do it too though, so don't gather arms.
I remembered I listen to a lot of game songs today too. Not a soundtrack or anything but I will turn the music up in a particular part I like.

christwarrior... I'm not judging you... but I do want to say that I am, unfortunately, familiar with Cradle of Filth's lyrics. And I find them to be filth.
Here's the thing. I'm very interested in literary representations of the supernatural. But when I see song lyrics crying out for "dark angels" to lend light for the way to heaven... when I see lyrics that praise Mephistopheles... when I see lyrics that call for the end of the world with "mocking crucified dolls"... then I have to say, that sounds Satanic to me.
If you're cool with listening to that, then no one will stop you. And I also want to say... I'm aware that the band is kind of ambiguous as to whether or not they are Satanists in their beliefs... as well as the fact that there are very few outright satanic messages in their lyrics. I just think that, unlike some bands that have been pegged as satanic, and are, in reality, nihilistic and writing allegory... that sort of thing doesn't exist for Cradle of Filth. It's either a mockery and an act... or it's real for them. Either way, their lyricism shows familiarity (passing, at least) with the works of Goethe and others. But so do Radiohead.
If you're looking for a black metal fix, there's other options. Just saying.

They aren't the only black metal band I listen to, and they aren't the best either. However, none of the songs I have, to my knowledge, say anything like that.

Ever hear of Antestor? How about Horde? What about Admonish, Kekal, Sanctifica, Crimson Moonlight, Vaakevandring, Lengsel, Drottnar or Arvinger? Welcome to unblack metal.
All I'm saying is that, in a genre populated by bands that claim to be occultic and satanic in origin... well, only God knows their hearts, right?

Do Cradle of filth cast magics on their audience?
Maybe I need to be careful of this band am I correct?

No. Let me find a lyrical example for you.
Nymphetamine
Laid to the river
Midsummer, I waved
A "V" of black swans
On with hope to the grave
And though Red September
With skies fire-paved
I begged you appear
Like a thorn for the holy ones
Cold was my soul
Untold was the pain
I faced when you left me
A rose in the rain....
So I swore to the razor
That never, enchained
Would your dark nails of faith
Be pushed through my veins again
Bared on your tomb
I'm a prayer for your loneliness
And would you ever soon
Come above onto me?
For once upon a time
On the binds of your loneliness
I could always find the slot for your sacred key
Six feet deep is the incision
In my heart, that barless prison
Discoulours all with tunnel vision
Sunsetter...
Nymphetamine
Sick and weak from my condition
This lust, this vampyric addiction
To Her alone in full submission
None better...
Nymphetamine
Nymphetamine, Nymphetamine...
Nymphetamine girl.
Nymphetamine, Nymphetamine...
My Nymphetamine girl.
Wicked with your charm
I'm circled like prey
Back in the forest
Were whispers persuade
More sugar trails
More white lady laid
Than pillars of salt...
(keeping Sodom at at bay)
Fold to my arms
Hold their message away
And dance out to the moon
As we did in those golden days
Christening stars
I remember the way
We were needle and spoon
Mislaid in the burning hay
Bared on your tomb
I'm a prayer for your loneliness
And would you ever soon
Come above onto me?
For once upon a time
On the binds of your loneliness
I could always find the right slot for your sacred key
Six feet deep is the incision
In my heart, that barless prison
Discoulours all with tunnel vision
Sunsetter...
Nymphetamine
Sick and weak from my condition
This lust, this vampyric addiction
To Her alone in full submission
None better...
Nymphetamine
Nymphetamine, Nymphetamine...
Nymphetamine girl.
Nymphetamine, Nymphetamine...
My Nymphetamine girl.
I can find more if you want!

Go listen to something better like Clapton or Pink Floyd. You'll thank me.

I'm guessing Fred is a newer school listener of Cradle of Filth. Let me just say this: the band is full of avowed Satanists. They incorporate it into their lyrics. Go look it up if you want. But Fred: please don't post their lyrics again.

Maybe he doesn't like them. Also, don't say this is better than that when they are in genres as different as Blues Rock and Black Metal. I'm not defending CoF here, I'm just being realistic.
As for your question, Caleb. No they do not cast spells on the audiance, they would probably be sued if they did.
