I used to play both DOTA and LoL with the aim to get competition-level good, since that's one of the few game genre's that has translated into real-world competitions with success, and I figured sticking my fingers into that pie would also validate me as a pro-gamer.

But I stopped playing for reasons, and now that I aim to start it up again, I find myself curiously reticent for the very reasons you've mentioned. I know a loss, even with bots, will bring down all manner and flavor of poopoo upon both my head and face. O_o And thus after a two day 13 GB download, the game has down little but take up bit space. XD

My approach to games is simple - games are there to have fun. If you're playing a game and you're not having fun, then either 1) you're doing it wrong, or 2) the game just isn't your cup of tea.

So that should be your main questions - do you want to play the game because you find it fun? If not, then why bother doing it in the first place? If you're in it for the money, then you had better enjoy it - otherwise, your time will be better spent doing something else for fun and profit.

Hopefully it's helpful. My wife and I played pre-Cacaclysm, and I heard that many of the maps were changed as a result of that expansion. So my information may be a bit dated!

Eh...I've some pride as a self-proclaimed pro-gamer. I want to be able to at least discuss games, having played them if I can, and be good at them it at all possible. It'd be a like a cheese connoisseur that didn't like the bleu cheese visuals, and so never bothered tasting it.

But I do enjoy DOTA, and MOBA's in general, and the fear is less "I've got a doctor's appointment tomorrow" and more "I haven't ridden a bike in three years and now I'm on a cycling team".

I haven't played it yet. Do you recommend it?

In fact, I'd probably call it one of the better platformers out now. Plus, the Plague Knight expansion is coming out in a week or so.

That depends entirely on how badly you want to go fishing. Is it something you really, really want to do?

Incidentally, I'm not much of a fan of fishing. If I want to sit for hours not doing anything terribly productive... well, then I might as well be playing video games.

Favorite class in WoW?

I'm inclined to say the druid, because of it's versatility. Plus, it's a great class for a person to solo with. Cat form, sneak up on your foe, and backstab. If the fight gets too tough, buff up by switching to bear mode. After the battle is done, turn back to normal and slap yourself with a few healing spells. I once took down a group of about 10 ghouls with my night elf druid while soloing (bad pull. I was surprised I lived.) They definitely fit into the "jack of all trades, master of none" category, but with the sheer number of options that they have available, they make great soloers, or a backup whatever in a group environment.

I'm going camping near a lake/stream Monday, and going camping without a fishing license would feel odd. I still haven't gone definitively one way, though. I do love me some fishing, even though I'm strictly catch and release.

That's a sign of a good game, if you pay full price and you think it's worth every penny.

But if you are going to go fishing, you might want to get a license. If not, then don't bother.

No. You'll end up feeling miserable before the week is done, and junk food will really lose its appeal by that point. You need to round it out with some other, healthier foods - like berries and other fruits, or maybe some fresh-caught trout roasted over an open fire.

As a conservative Christian living in the most liberal part of Idaho, this is commonplace. I'm used to people hating me for no particular reason.

My wife was watching a video earlier about some of these refugees coming from Syria and other places in the Middle East. The mainstream media is showing some of these as sob stories... but the video showed some of what was happening that the media didn't release. Such as the refugees protesting and destroying food and medical supplies delivered by the Red Cross simply because it wasn't Halal. Or a husband pushing his wife and child onto some railroad tracks, then acting like a martyr when the police come to help, just for a photo op to make the police look bad. It just reminded me of all the other times the mainstream media has deliberately skewed events or interviews in order to fit their agendas.

It brought to mind a quote, which I just shared on my Twitter and Facebook feeds. "In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act." -- George Orwell. It's something to keep in mind as social acceptance for despicably evil acts becomes more and more commonplace in an increasingly dark world.

Oh, man... I hate it when that happens! Especially if it happens to be country music! Which they tend to play at my workplace from time to time.... Sad to say, but I tend to know more of the recent country music more than my wife, who actually likes the genre. (At least the old stuff. The newer country music she tends to regard as, in her words, "pointless drivel.")
