I'm gettin' close to the end of that too. ;)

And I just beat The Witcher. Finally. Epic game, I'm contemplating whether or not to get the next one . . .

Prey.

Awesome game, really cool physics and utilization of portals/gravity. Also an awesome story. AND I WANT PREY 2.

And Garth, do it. I got it (And I also just beat The Witcher. I concur, epic game) and it blows the first away. It's insane.

Yeah, here's some of the neat things about it (Hidden in spoilers for those who haven't beaten the first yet):
Spoiler:
Meditation can now be done anywhere out of combat. You can also mix potions and drink potions from this screen without actually meditating. There is also a crafting system, which isn't all that great, but it is neat. Also, potions can no longer be drunk in combat or outside of the quick-pause menu. Sad, but it does encourage you to think before you act.

Further, the graphics are nothing short of gorgeous. The models are so well made and textured that I cannot help but be blown away by them.

You can import your old save to this one. Some equipment transfers, some doesn't, but some of your decisions transfer. Like whether or not you helped Thaler, saved Adda, or a few other things. While not major factors, they do let you know that this is the same Geralt.

They've changed the combat system to a more action-oriented system, where everything is largely real-time, and as such you must constantly dodge and swing to be effective. It takes some getting used to, and is incredibly hard at first, but it's an inverse curve of difficulty and you'll adapt and level really quickly.

Talents have been changed to only four major trees, rather than a list for each little skill/attribute/style. It's nicer, and allows for more refined leveling.

Unfortunately, the sexual content has gotten a little worse, while less-often occurring. Rather than the blurred sex scenes of before, you now get a cutscene showing the lady in all full-frontal nudity, and everything about Geralt except his...manhood. :P

There's also a few unskippable sections of nudity, like the prologue and a few sporadic encounters, but sex has taken a smaller role in this game than before.

Also, the F-word has dropped in usage, with people usually preferring to say "Plough" as a crude word for sex and the verb use of the f-word.

Finally, the story is a bit shorter, and has the middle-of-trilogy feel to it, as the ending leaves a bit to be desired. Almost like The Empire Strikes Back or Mass Effect 2.

All in all, I love it way more than the first, and I adored the first. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings goes on my list of the best RPGs not only of this year, but of all time. It's that good. Read the professional reviews if you don't believe me. :P

Also, I think there's a demo coming sometime in the next month or so if you want to wait. This game is a massive resource hog, as I can barely run it on high. Ubersampling = big no-no unless you have the highest of the high-end. :P

The Witcher 2.

Epic game. Epic. Sadly, all the reviews I had read were correct: This game ends abruptly. It's like WHAM! "Epilogue" And there you have it. No, I did not complete all of the side quests, so that probably shortened my playthrough by a couple of hours, but I'm not sure if I broke 20 hours with this. That's about half the time it took me to complete the first Witcher. Still, there's a great amount of replayability, considering some of the choices in the game that make major differences.

I thought the sexual content and needless nudity was horrendously stupid; I was glad that I was able to skip most of it. That's not more mature, that's going in the opposite direction, I'm sorry.

Barring that, the game was spectacular. The graphics were the best in an RPG that I've seen to date, and the game ran almost flawlessly on my PC with few hiccups and no crashes (Loading was fairly quick too, and there were VERY few sequences of loading between areas).

Combat took a little getting used to, but after awhile I enjoyed it more than the previous Witcher's "pausable" skirmishes.

Fantastic, fantastic. Looking forward to playing through again.

L.A. Noire

Outstanding game; one of the more engrossing games I have played of late. Detective movies, novels, and (now) games have always been a real draw for me, so that just made this experience even better for me.

Still, the ending felt very lackluster. It was basically "fetch quests" and "I-Spy" in the latter cases, and while the story arc became much greater scale-wise, it just wasn't as "relatable." I can't complain too much, however, as I still highly recommend this to any detective/noire fans.

God of War

Well. This game was better than I originally gave it credit for, but it does have moments of pure aggravation. (See: endless swarms of monsters, tightrope sequences, and a terrible camera) Worth playing, but not near as good as everyone hypes it up to be.

Monster Hunter Tri.

Defeated the final beastie. Time is right at 59:36. XD Did not expect the game to be this awesome. I may get a PSP version. And you know, it's not even finished. There's another 10 hours in it, since after you defeat the final boss (which was awesomely freakish) you unlock another set of nigh impossible quests, which are just crazy. They have you fighting two of the "epic" level monsters at once. O_o

The point being...I could easily recommend this to most people. As long as you don't ragequit.

Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Shorter than I expected, but still crazy awesome. The only thing I didn't like about it was that my 9-year-old brother beat the game before I did. =P
