How far along are you?
Also, using an old microwave to build a radiation weapon to kill varmints with?
Effect will probably be simple overheating of an animal's core, but hopefully it will result it boiling blood and a nice exploding rat.

That seems...cruel. Something to do on a person, but not an animal.
You'd need a big magnetron though. Like, watermelon sized or sommat.
Then again, if you could make it portable (and not cook your own self with it. XD) it would likely be one of the most cool things ever.
