Dad just left to shoot a shotgun he bought five years ago, that he's never shot, that he doesn't even know how to load(I showed him).
Does this spell disasstir? Nope. It's spelled D-i-s-a-s-t-e-r. Capital D.

Yet another case of father's not knowing guns.

Episode Two in the adventures of Dad, which may be slightly implausible but are nonetheless true.
So Dad figured out how to switch the barrel of his shotgun from the smoothbore to the rifled one. Then he was figuring out how to load it. I showed him how.
He took the gun out. Then came back in. Said it wouldn't fire. Looked up something online that shows how. Loaded it again. Took it outside.
We all heard a loud boom and my terrified mother ran outside, fearing the worst.
"Shoots right where I aimed it," Dad said.
There was a large hole in our TV, which was facedown on the driveway. (Did I mention he was using rifled slugs? In a twenty-gauge?)
Dad said something about a lifelong dream to shoot the TV and something else about his intense dislike for Bill O'Reilly, but I was too busy laughing to pay attention.

Oh yeah, and it's only 53 degrees in our house.

Yes... I've got no reason to make this stuff up, and I'm not that imaginative anyway.
