The Cursed Town Of “Tombwater” Launches Onto Steam, Alongside First Post-Launch Patch
Last week, developer Moth Atlas and publisher Midwest Games launched Tombwater, a 2D pixel art adventure that marries intense Soulslike combat with the alluring adventure of a Zelda title. Following a successful launch and extremely positive initial reviews, the team is excited to share its first post-launch update, which brings fan-requested changes to make the dark journey into horror-filled streets smoother than ever.
Watch the Tombwater launch trailer here:
Set in a once-bustling western town, Tombwater has players take the role of a lone gunslinger on the hunt for their lost friend. The investigation sends them into a land afflicted by madness, where unknown horrors and terrifying monsters lurk around every corner. With over 50 weapons — including blades, spells, and of course, a trusty revolver — Tombwater hosts punishing combat and exhilarating boss battles, gruesomely realized with gorgeous pixel art.
With the first post-launch update, numerous balancing issues have been implemented to smooth out the journey and improve quality of life. These include changes to spells, reworked bosses, tweaks to player damage received, as well as fan-requested changes like including a counter for the quantity of Flask Shards and Mirror Shards collected.
Tombwater’s first post-launch patch also includes numerous bug fixes and highlights the continued support from Moth Atlas’ two-man development team, comprised of Max Mraz and Jake Wagner. You can read the full patch notes here.
