today announces as of January 31, 2026 (per internal tracking), SILENT HILL 2 Remake has surpassed five million units worldwide. This figure reflects digital and physical sales, store downloads and subscription services across PC, PlayStation®5, and XBOX Series X|S.

Having launched back on October 8th, 2024, SILENT HILL 2 has continuously received worldwide acclaim. It won six categories at the “PlayStation® Blog Game of the Year 2024”, including the Platinum Trophy for “Story”, based on player votes. Furthermore, in 2025, it won the Grand Prize in the Sound category at the “CEDEC AWARDS 2025”. It also received nominations in “The Game Awards 2024” and “BAFTA Games Awards 2025” amongst other domestic and international awards.

SILENT HILL 2 is a remake of the original critically acclaimed psychological horror title released on the PlayStation®2 in 2001. Players take on the role of James Sunderland exploring the decaying town of Silent Hill, a place filled with memories of his late wife Mary. Navigating through the fog and encountering creatures and other characters, James must confront his own memories.

This remake offers an immersive experience with evolved graphics and sound by using modern technology whilst also staying true to the original. It has been reborn as a deeper psychological horror title enjoyable for both fans of the original and for newcomers to this legendary franchise.
