Destructible Car Combat Game Mad Metal Throttles Onto Kickstarter

Developer Mad Mechs takes open-world car combat game to crowdfunding to fuel console ports, online gameplay modes, and a soundtrack by Scarlet Moon

TORONTO - September 1, 2025 - Independent game developer Mad Mechs is pleased to announce the crowdfunding campaign for Mad Metal. This fast-paced open-world destructible car combat title brings together the best of multiple genres and game modes, incorporating dynamic music, environments, and seasonal affects as well as permanent impacts on the world and collaboration between rivals based on players' decisions. Proudly strapping its Mad Max, Twisted Metal, and Carmageddon inspiration to its front bumper, Mad Metal also features nostalgic car designs inspired by iconic vehicles from Twisted Metal, The Fast & The Furious, Transformers, and more. The campaign has a funding goal of $13,500 Canadian Dollars (CAD) to produce custom artwork, localize into seven major languages, port to consoles, and develop an original soundtrack with Scarlet Moon. Rewards include all the essentials: the game starting at $24.99 USD (with normalized regional pricing), custom vehicle skins and weapons, and diecast vehicle models as well as the ability to contribute to the design of the game's characters, vehicles, campaigns, and more. An $80,000 CAD stretch goal will bring local and online multiplayer to the game for maximum destruction on a global scale.

"Our goal is to bring back the golden era of vehicle combat games," notes Mad Mechs developer Hakim Elayday. "Despite the fond memories we've had growing up with these games from the '90s to the mid-2010s, we haven't seen much buzz around the vehicle combat genre for several decades. After announcing Mad Metal in March 2025, we felt that nostalgic spark reignite once more in the tangible excitement from our fans. This is what drives us to revitalize the essence of old school vehicle shooters with our own high-tech, modern, and gritty twist."

Mad Metal expands on the beloved genre by combining fast-paced destructible action with open-world exploration and updated gameplay mechanics that are sure to get competitive players fueled up and firing on all cylinders. Mad Metal is planned for release on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2 starting in Q4 2025.
