Almaty, Kazakhstan - August 13, 2025 — Game developer Cyber Temple is proud to put the spotlight today on the music for their recently revealed vertical survival city builder DarkSwitch. A core element of the title’s woodpunk setting and heavy atmosphere, the soundtrack is a work from famed composer Akira Yamaoka, who is crafting the sounds of yet another adventure that is appropriately challenged by a drowning fog. In today’s seven-minute conversation, Yamaoka-san walks players through the inspirations that led him to work on games, the challenges of the creative process, the particular atmosphere that he wants to build in DarkSwitch, and more.



DarkSwitch is a vertical survival city builder where you manage a city built atop a colossal tree, high above a deadly fog that surrounds it. While city building and survival are the heart of the gameplay, you’ll also engage in quests for exploration, defend your city against the mysterious threats, and unravel a multi-threaded storyline that shapes the future of your people. The narrative unfolds through quests, dialogues, and cutscenes, while gameplay evolves around tasks and building objectives, technology progression and community development. The main antagonist here is the enigmatic fog, which impacts citizens’ health and morale, and is modeled using custom voxel grid technology, creating dynamic, unpredictable fog shifts and ambisonic SFX. DarkSwitch is being developed by an independent, diverse, and global team of veterans. Today, the studio is highlighting the work of Akira Yamaoka today, who is infusing the game’s scenes with an eerie, desolate vibe that reflects the surrounding darkness and sense of doom.
